"The school sucks big time. Is a lot of bullying in the school and if the child defend themselves from this bullies they get suspended but the child is bullying other kids don't get in trouble at all. I advised everybody to don't put your kids in this school"
"I graduated from Elkin in 1957. I still have fond memories of a great school. I am glad you are concerned about your child, as you should be. Did you ever think it is the parents who are responsible for their child's behavior at school? The reason for the failure of Elkin along with so many other Philadelphia schools is the lack of parenting. I grew up in Kensington raised by two immigrant parents. I did not have much as far as material things but I had two role models as parents who taught me right from wrong. I had rules to follow and they always knew where I was. My Mother's duty was to make sure I did my homework and got the proper help. I was only an average student but I am proud to say I made it in life. Elkin was one of the reasons, my home life was the other."
"It hasn't gotten any better, this school should be closed. it's just a buliding for kids to go to for a couple hours during the day. I attended a back to school meeting where all the parents came with their children to eat free pretzels, and when violence in the school was being discussed about 80% of the parents and children laughed at a comment made about hitting kids back. The principal does not know how to run a school, she annouced her being married more than anything else important during the meeting. My daughter has had episodes where she has cried because they are unable to learn because of the disruption in class. There is no type of firm discipline in the school, students get away with fighting and return the next day to do it over again. I am currently in the process of removing my daughter from this school, i always recieve information late and sometimes i dont recieve it at all. I missed a concert my daughter was in because the paper was given to her a day before it was scheduled. I am ashamed to say i live near this neighborhood school and i have not one good thing to say. I will be reviewing again after the next meeting......If there will be one."
