"Convenient location that is a short walk to the Metro system, grocery stores, pharmacy, restaurants, and shops. Adjacent to Old Town (15 to 20-minute walk). Newly renovated common areas and most apartments. Clean and modern amenities. Friendly front desk, and responsive maintenance/service team. Robert and Malachi from the Leasing Office consistently provided excellent service, being consummate professionals from move-in to move-out. Largely friendly tenants. Dog friendly. An occasional power or water issue (as expected in apartment buildings), but usually resolved in a timely manner. Some ambient background noise due to proximity to Metrorail system (not in control of the building)."
"There are so many things I can say about The Carlyle Place. It was my first apartment as a new single mom. The location is perfect for convivence. You can walk to best grocery stores, you are a near entertainment and a pharmacy. The metro is right there and best of all you are in a super safe location. No place is perfect, so yes living here came with some hiccups but with such an attentive group of property managers, assistants, concierges and maintenance crew (they are the best and have great attitudes) ...I promise you are in great hands. you are not just a number, just get to know them and remember that they are human too. You truly will get your money's worth. Also Shout out to the New Property Manager Christine, she came in around the summer , during renovations and learns so much, so quick. She will make sure you not only feel at home but feel cared for and seen. Enjoy the new renovations, you will never want to leave lol Get that application process started and bring a good attitude :) - Lydia (Dec 2023)"
"4.5/5 actually. Living at Carlyle Place was an interesting experience. While things were very negative at first, by the time I left thing had SIGNIFICANTLY improved. The apartments are gorgeous no doubt. The building had several issues throughout my time living there, however, change of management has significantly improved the place by addressing concerns and repairs: fixing emerging issues promptly. The new management team is attentive and caring. With this new management's guidance, the leasing team seams under less stress and much more open to working with residents. The building is still going through renovations and, when finalized, it would significantly improve residents living. They are really trying to improve, and are willing to work with you if you respectfully reach out and work with them. Boiler issues and elevator issues are being actively repaired and reviewed to finally fix problems. Security is improving. Package management is much much improved. Overall, if I moved back to the area I would not doubt choosing Carlyle Place as my next home. Give them a chance! It's a nice place and they're doing everything they can to make it better."
"Rent increased 11% in a 'luxury apartment building' that is nothing but a facade to an infrastructure nightmare. In the time I've been here there have been 23 water outages and 20 elevator outages in one tower alone. No, those numbers are not an exaggeration. This past year has been ongoing construction to perform unnecessary 'visual' upgrades so they can destroy your wallet while you live through all of the noise, dust, mess, and chaos. You may email, call, and voice all the concerns you wish, but they will fall on deaf ears to a company that's goal is getting you out so they can throw in some cheap wood flooring, a nest thermostat, some new outlet covers and charge an extra $1,500 onto an already overpriced apartment."
"TLDR: I would recommend people consider finding another place to live. I don't typically write reviews, but I feel like I need to share some of the awful experiences that I and other residents have had while living here, particularly over the past 12-18 months. I've tried to sum them up by issue. Water. There have been at least 19 water outages since Jan 2022. This does not even include the times we are without HOT water. Cooking, cleaning, using the toilet, taking a shower, doing laundry. I can't count on being able to do these things on any given day. In a letter to residents, Paradigm denied that there were as many as 19 outages but provided no alternate numbers. They also blamed the city, despite water returning quickly to other buildings after a city outage but not ours since it overwhelmed our domestic water pump. Elevators. There are constant elevator issues, which is a big deal in a 20-story building with hundreds of residents that is also undergoing construction and accommodating lots of people trying to move out. The West tower has just come off of several days without a second working elevator and a brief period with neither one working, which is not an uncommon experience. The elevator is the only option to get back to your apartment even if you did want to take the stairs. The door to access each floor via the stairwell is locked with no key or fob access for residents. Construction. There is construction noise almost constant during the weekdays since they are renovating units as people move out. For people that work from home such as myself, this can make meetings and focus time very difficult. The construction isn't just in units, but also on the ground floor where they have have decided to remodel the lobby and install a pet salon. I get that some renovation is necessary and that nobody really likes the process. However, Paradigm Management and the anonymous owners of the building have clearly decided to prioritize attending to superficial things that might look good on a brochure over serious structural issues with the building. All the while, tenants are paying increased rents to live at Carlyle Place while it's a construction zone. Maintenance. I would advise residents stay away from Randy, a member of the maintenance staff. He would prefer to throw a tantrum or pick a fight with you rather than help you. That being said, the other members of the maintenance staff have been nothing but great. Positives. There are genuinely some really great people working here at the concierge desk, on the cleaning staff, and at the leasing office. I think a lot of the problems are just out of their hands. The location also really works for us, as it is near the metro, Old Town, good restaurants, etc. Other residents are friendly, welcoming, and equally concerned with the building's direction. @CarlylePlaceTA on Twitter and Instagram document some of the problems tenants have faced here. I would recommend that anyone thinking of renting here consider looking elsewhere."
