"I lived at Riverside for 6 years, the first 5 years at Building 2 and the last at Building 3. I enjoyed and made use of the amenities provided but my complaints were mainly about the maintenance of the laundry machines (majority were broken and you couldn't recover your money even when the machines didn't work). Building 2 was an otherwise smooth experience, however Building 3 is just terrible with bugs all year round, my ice-maker never worked, and my closet doors always broke or came off the hinges, maintenance came multiple times for these same issues but there were no long-term or permanent solutions, I eventually gave up on asking them for help and it made me feel like the rent was too expensive for the state of the apartment. My experiences with the staff were always pleasant though, especially Mercedes, Beza, William, Keith and Jennifer."
"Constant hammering above my apartment, there’s never a warning when they do replace flooring. I can hear it even in the hallways of my floor. It’s ridiculous!!!!!!! There’s zero communication/warnings when stuff like this happens. People are working remotely!! The least you can do it email residents ahead of time. This apartment used to be under Bozutto company, we used to have a gate and security guards. But now there’s no gates and unreliable security. I’m seeing so many interesting and suspicious looking people walking around the property every so often. It never used to be this way. I can’t imagine feeling safe with kids in this community."
"I just moved back to this apartment and so far things have been pretty good but I had an issue with a delivery from Amazon. Basically it said my package was delivered but I couldn’t find it in the mail room or package room. The person, a young lady was working there and on her phone the entire time. She gave absolutely no help and when I asked her questions she didn’t have any answers. I decided to check again to see if I overlooked anything but I still couldn’t find the package. That was until the Manager Christel asked me if I needed any help and in less than 10 minutes she found my package. I was so happy but most importantly very thankful she was able to help me find the package. I appreciated her willingness to check everything and she did. If you live here and you have any concerns with deliveries in Tower two make sure to see Christel she will definitely help you out. Thank you Christel"
"I have been to a lot of properties and this one is highly recommended! First off I Toured Riverside for my friend who is relocating and I was amazed at how clean and well kept the community was. It had so many amenities from the convenient store, to the pools, clubs rooms, gyms, shuttle bus, the list goes on. The cleaners had the lobbies and the amenities looking amazing and smelling even better. As soon as I walked into the office I was greeted by Deanna one of the leasing agents and her customer service was amazing. She toured the community with me and was so knowledgeable towards any questions I had. She made me want to live there. All the vacant we went to we nice and updated as well. Although I was touring for someone else she treated me just like any other tour. Deanna is amazing and everyone else in the office was super friendly and welcoming as well. 10/10"
"I have resided at Riverside Apartments in Alexandria, VA, for a little more than three years. As with any large property, there are always some negative and positive aspects of being a resident. So, if you wondering why I chose to stay at Riverside I will tell you what I believe to be some of the positive aspects. Prior to locating a place to live, I focused heavily on proximity to downtown Washington DC and I came to the conclusion that Riverside is one (if not the best) places to live due to its strategic location. You have multiple routes to commute to work (I-395 or I-295, Route 1, and the George Washington Parkway) via car. If a personal vehicle doesn’t suit your needs, you can rely on the public transport buses, or the Huntington Metro (Riverside has a shuttle bus during commuter hours). The property is situated within miles of some of the best places the City of Alexandria has to offer. You can be on King Street in Old Town via car in less than ten minutes. Old Town Alex is one the best places in Washington DC metro to visit. There are some really great restaurants, shops, and historical sites. The Mount Vernon Trail, easily accessible via bicycle, is one of the very places to spend your days off. Do you enjoy kayaking? Nearby on the Mt. Vernon Trail is the Belle Haven Marina that offers rentals on the Potomac River. The Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve offers some the absolute best bird watching, often you will be able to spot the bald eagles and owls that nest along the river banks. Another one of my focuses on selecting a place to reside was fitness facilities. Someone did their homework when they selected the equipment for the property’s fitness rooms. The community center has a cardio room consisting of treadmills, bikes and rowing machines. The upstairs portion of the center has a room full of cable machines to workout all the major muscle groups. An additional room is used for dance/yoga classes and it also makes an excellent place to do HIIT/Tabata workouts on your phone. Building 2 has a newly opened gym, with additional equipment including a manual treadmill and a Smith machine. The community itself seems to consist of working-class individuals and families. The property is multicultural and has a healthy mix of singles, families, younger and older generations. During the early morning rush, you will find a lot of children making their way to school, and many individuals wearing military attire. A lot of public service professionals call Riverside home. Some residents come and go, but overall, many stay here long term. Riverside has a potential to offer a small-town community feel. The office staff has been here for quite some time, and more than likely you will eventually know them by name. So, what are some negative aspects of being a resident of Riverside? The property is aging, as it was built in the 1970s. You’re living in one of the oldest towns on the East coast. Once in a while you’re going to experience water outages because the infrastructure is aging under the city streets. Some of the building interiors feel outdated. The property compared to other nearby residential properties may feel lacking in amenities such as dog parks, and upgrade smart technologies. Some residents have experienced property crimes, mainly consisting of damage to their vehicles. Although there are some issues that need to be addressed, the property was up until recently managed by large leasing management companies who had no interest other than revenue generation. Now Elme communities, who owns Riverside, has finally taken control of their property and is self-managing. Since Elme has taken over the property improvements have been continual. Would I recommend living at Riverside? Yes, for three years I have continued to call Riverside my home away from home. Is there room for improvement? Absolutely, and Elme Communities is currently addressing the communities needs."
