Reviews of Achievement Center of LECOM Health
"The people at the Achievement Center are the most kind people you can ever talk to, they help you with any mental issues that you have and also help with people who have autistic disabilities, they are incredibly friendly people and listen to anything you say."
"The achievement center is refusing to see our children because of our religious beliefs. I would not recommend them."
"I feel that this facility does have very knowledgeable and highly credentialed staff. My kids LOVE the playground, the play area, and the huge fish tank! I think many child may thrive with the correct programs and staff to implement the support. In my opinion, in order to be coupled with the above mentioned staff, one must be paired with many unprofessional, biased individuals. Suppose (a formerly known as asperger's) ASD child presents with SB of consistently jumping and spinning with occasional tics. The SB occur at times in which one feels a sense to self regulate. Examples of such are the environment being too loud or bright, other children or unfamiliar places in general. A caregiver should not need to expose a child to stimuli to provoke such behaviors simply for the sake of documentation. (Although the extinction burst in part of exposure therapy.) Females with ASD can present SB differently than her male peers. As a parent that has previously worked with specially-abled children and adults, I can pinpoint SB better than most. I get so frustrated at statements such as "She looks so normal", "She's gorgeous and wise beyond her years.""Highly intelligent." What does "normal" look like? Please operationally define "normal." Personally, I think more education on ASD and how it presents differently in female clients could be very helpful! Not just with this agency, but in general. Although I have expressed a complaint above, my teenage daughter received primo level of care from a supervisor. She was swift, knowledgeable, and proactive. She will always have my gratitude. After all, I cant think of a better place to send a child that might need some extra support. Especially in regards to the PT program! How cool is that program?!!?"
"If you are willing to put in time and effort, this is the best place for you and your child. In 9 months I saw a 360 degree turn around in my 3 year old. It wasn't easy. But it was worth it."
"Horrible. My son went there for a year for his ADHD and they did nothing for him, nor did anything they told us to do with him worked whatsoever. It took me 4 MONTHS to even try to get him to see a psychologist and we were 20 mins late because of traffic. How many times have i waited an HOUR just to see someone in there? I can't even count. They told us we would have to reschedule and that would take another 4 months! My son really needed the help asap too. I was so disappointed."
