"So it was hard to find the parking lot for this place cause there’s no signage. It’s on the right side of the road right next to the highway. You know you’ve gone too far if you’ve reached the brewery on the left, but someone there was able to direct me to the trailhead. It’s about a 20 minute hike uphill and it can be quite rocky! But the view was gorgeous. And you can continue on after the lookout if you want. This hike intersects with the Appalachian Trail."
"Tonight is our 3rd night at Bears Den Hostel. It's hard to find words for how much I've enjoyed this spot. It's breathtakingly beautiful (who doesn't love a castle in the forest?). Every corner is impeccably well thought out. The lush lawn, the flowers & garden, multiple areas for a fire with clean benches, a covered picnic area, clean bunk room & bathroom. Inside the lodge is beautiful & has magazines, a piano, chess, cards, ample dining space & indoor plants all around. And, the host is perfect! I'm sure we'll be back. Thank you for everything!"
"This is right off the AT, look for the sign for Bear’s Den near the overlook. We are beginner backpackers and this was the perfect place to wind down after a very long day on the rollercoaster. The owner is super hospitable and there are board games here. You get dinner, dessert, bed, shower, and breakfast for $40."
"Never stayed in the cabin, only ever hit the trails. The overlook is alright. It is part of the Appalachian trail, so if you ever decided to take a year-long break from life and wanted to spend it in nature, you absolutely can. If you go across 695, it continues to Raven Rock. Now that overlook is amazing, overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains"
