"You are better off going to a different one life location. This location has too many dumb rules, like no clothes in the sauna and you have to wear shoes while squatting (some prefer no shoes while squatting for better form). The trainers are also very rude and stuck up. I forgot my headphones one day, and was playing my music really low on my phone, and one came up to me and said “bring headphones next time”. I go to a different location now and they are more laid back and it has more space."
"My recommendation is to go with LA fitness, lifetime fitness, or any other gym in the area. OneLife Fitness is run like a big corporate company and they do not care for their customers. They are only in it for the money and don't care about the community. With all of the locations they have in the DC, MD, VA area they are only interested in numbers...not people or fitness. I originally joined the gym here at Pike and Rose several years ago when it was independent and owned by a company called "Sport and Health". This gym had an amazing community feel, great staff, the cleanest facilities, and light crowds. My wife and I absolutely loved it. When Onelife Fitness bought the company and took over management, the gym quickly declined; mainly as a result of a huge increase in crowds. On busy days, it became impossible to get on the equipment you wanted. The only saving grace for the gym is that they kept the same staff working. The staff is incredible and I wish them the best but I do fear that OneLife's corporate structure will chase them elsewhere. I recently moved homes and sent in notice that I needed to cancel my membership. I provided almost a months notice (as much as I possibly could). One of the lovely staff members that was original to Sport and Health acknowledged my email cancellation and informed me that hopefully by providing evidence of the move, I would not have to pay for an additional month of services that I could not possibly use. After providing evidence of the move, Jenna from OneLife Fitness member services interjected in the matter and refused to allow the move to be justification for membership cancellation. Even after asking politely, pleading my case, and the support of the nice gym staff, OneLife decided to shoot down the request. They are choosing to charge me and my wife for an additional month of services that we physically cannot use. They are happily taking our money for services that they are not providing to us. My interactions with OneLife were very disappointing and disheartening. They have demonstrated that they do not care for the customers and are only in it for the money. I absolutely would not recommend going here."
"I just moved to this area, and I’ve already had a OneLife membership, there is nothing online that states that this location is of a different tier yet when I walked into the front desk, they refused to let me in saying that I needed to pay a guest fee. What a horrible experience for a paying customer to be blindsided by additional fees that aren’t clear online nor do you get the same benefits of a free guest pass for a first visit that other nonmembers would get to be able to see if you even want to upgrade in the first place. I’ve been in gym sales before in the past, and to dismiss somebody, or ask them to pay a guest fee before one even offering a tour, or learning a little bit more about why they’re there in the first place is beyond me. Poor sales skills. The front desk member was rude and I won’t be going back."
"Fantastic gym. They're on top of keeping their equipment in great working condition, well-organized, and their entire staff and trainers behave with a level of professionalism and competence that competing gyms lack (e.g. Golds, LA Fitness, Planet Fitness, etc.). Whenever I've had an issue of any sort (very few over the course of my year contract), the manager Richard Mallon and his team handle it immediately and professionally. I've since changed gyms, but only because another one popped up literally next-door to my residence (logistics). I'll continue to recommend this gym to friends and family who want to experience respect, competence, personalization, and professionalism. As far as equipment is concerned, expect to see options available for powerlifting (deadlift platforms/squat racks/bench presses), bodybuilding (machines covering the entirety of the muscular system for isolation along with a Smith machine and many cable options with plenty of attachments), athletic performance (ropes, bands, tire flipping, turf section—both indoor and outdoor), more than enough cardio options, etc. Their sauna, bathrooms, lockers, and showers are clean and well-maintained, and they provide both small and large clean towels."
"Customer services in rockville is bad is like zombies just staring at you not even a smile but pike and rose there’s this guy looking Asian always welcoming and always smiling and offers me a towel all the time. But the daycare hours are dumb and ridiculous defeats the purpose of having classes when the daycare is closing up lol so dumb."
