"Upon being seated we were impressed by the ambiance! Very nice dining room. There was flooring on the walls but we didn’t mind it looked nice. We ordered a couple glasses of wine that were wonderful. Started with Miso Soup that was good. Our seaweed salad had a weird after taste. Like a moldy container after taste. I just blew it off. Then our sushi board arrived with a Lobster Roll and the Rainbow Roll. A gorgeous presentation for sure! But again-when we tasted them-again a weird after taste. Like a dated grocery store from the 80’s is what it reminded me of. We enjoyed our fried rice but didn’t even want to box up our sushi. Disappointed. Really was hoping to have a nice different place to dine in our area. Maybe next time we will try the hibachi. We were still hungry when we left. The building is over 25 years old. It may be the coolers. Filters? Idk. The shrimp was cooked and the tuna was tasteless. The Lobster Roll had iceberg lettuce."
"Food was good, but not great. Restaurant is large, and decorated nicely. Respectful staff. $70 total for everything off the lunch menu."
"A much finer and higher scale operation than what you would expect for West Virginia. The staff are on point and conversational. For the food it simply does not disappoint. I don't know how they do it but for a location so inland the quality of their seafood is pretty good. Definitely the best sushi you could get in Charleston."
"Craving hibachi so we took a risk and went to Kita. It gets 50/50 reviews so we went in with an open mind. Firstly the service was spot on. Our waiter was an older gentleman and he was very nice and attentive. Ambience is definitely on the nice side, and this would make a great place for date night. Now to the food. We started with the wontons, and they were delicious! Super thin wontons stuffed with a savory cream filling on a bed of mango sweet and sour sauce. The hibachi meals come with the standard soup, salad, and choice of rice or noodles with vegetables and whichever protein you choose; we chose chicken. Everything was good except the chicken was overdone and tough but the teriyaki sauce everything was cooked in was good and the yum yum sauce wasn’t too sweet and complimented everything really well. I had the panther roll (tempura fried soft shell crab, cream cheese, avocado, and eel sauce) that I had spicy Mayo and crunches added. It was the best roll I’ve had so far in Charleston. Now….for $17 it should be the best in town; everywhere else is $10-13 for the exact same roll. Ultimately it’s the same type of meal you can get at any of the other hibachi places but cost a bit more ($18 for a kitchen cooked hibachi dinner, those are typically $13-16 when you don’t get “the show”) but this is a place I would happily go on a date night or if I had business clients in from out town."
