New Student Orientation Office

The New Student Orientation Office at the University of Maryland, College Park is dedicated to welcoming new students to the Maryland family. Located in College Park, Maryland, United States, our office provides a comprehensive orientation program to help incoming students prepare for the academic challenges at UMD, learn about Maryland traditions, and discover campus resources.

During orientation, students will have the opportunity to meet with academic advisors, connect with fellow Terps, and register for classes. Our orientation sessions are major-specific, so students can get the information they need to succeed in their chosen field of study.

If students wish to change their intended major, they can contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to request a change. Once the major change is processed, students should double check their orientation date to ensure it aligns with their new major.

Orientation is a great way to explore the campus, meet other students, and learn about campus traditions. We encourage students to register for orientation as soon as possible to secure their spot in the program.
