"The staff was incredibly attentive and helpful, but the rooms weren’t as nice as they appear on the website. The electrical outlets in bathroom didn’t work and no fans for air circulation. Room has fridge but no microwave. I asked for an extra blanket because bed only had a thin sheet, and I received a brown fleece blanket that looked old and dirty. There was also a lot of construction going on in front, so coming and going was jackhammer loud. Overall, the stay was fine, but I’ll look for a different place on my next visit."
"Blake made the entire checking-in process so easy! We showed up a little early and he allowed early check-in, advised on the best parking situation, and offered free wine! The room appeared be newly renovated and was better than expected! I don’t see how anyone could have given less than 5 stars considering how well you’re treated here. We will recommend this hotel to anyone we know visiting the area!"
"Stayed here for a family gathering over the weekend and everything was great. We had 8 rooms total. Charming, quiet hotel with great service, nice complimentary wine hour, and decent breakfast for the price, although the coffee could be better. The staff was excellent even if there was a Buckeye fan among them (Go Tigers!). From entertaining during wine hour and attentiveness at breakfast, I couldn't have asked for better service or nicer staff. The hotel is in a quiet location near the embassies and within walking distance to good food and a short bus hop or scooter ride to the major attractions. The rooms were overall clean, however smelled a bit musty. AC units appear to be the culprit. Bed and pillows were both comfortable and provided a good nights rest. We usually stay in big chain hotels using points and status but would definitely stay here again when visiting DC for the quiet vibe and awesome staff."
"Quiet location, despite the renovations happening at the hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions about where to eat & how to get around without a car. I was SO happy not to have a car because parking anywhere in DC is always a challenge. The daily wine & cheese happy hour is welcoming. We didn’t eat breakfast there because $15 for a modified Continental breakfast just seemed too much. Since it is an older building, the HVAC is only a 2-pipe system, meaning there is either A.C. or heating. The weather at the start of our stay was temperate and the building had turned on the heat. Our room was quite warm, so we turned off the thermostat and borrowed a fan from the front desk. The rooms have mini-fridges. A microwave is available to guests in the lounge where happy hour is held. Though most of the staff was friendly and helpful, Blake was a star in helping us get settled when we arrived. The location is convenient to DuPont Circle & the Metro. I would definitely stay here again."
"The photos of the hotel on their website look very nice but are very misleading. The pillows were very firm so my boyfriend went to get a softer one. The male at the front desk acted like my boyfriend was stupid like the pillows were already soft. We were told at check out that they are unable to run heat and A/C at the same time in the building. Therefore on a warmer December day we could not turn the heat off and our room was at 76 degrees when we had it set to 70. The sink is flat, therefore when you turn the water on it splashes onto you. The shower head must've been put on wrong because it was pointing straight down. I could point it back towards the wall but not towards me. There are much nicer hotels in the city for the same price or cheaper. Spend your money elsewhere, trust me you'll be glad you did. Update: When we checked in we were charged an extra incidental charge that they said would come off afterwards. Most hotels would just refund you the charge. This hotel obviously doesn’t like doing things the convenient way. They charged my card again with the cheaper price bringing my debit card into the negatives. This is unacceptable and I have never seen any hotel do this."
