"My experience thus far has been excellent, largely thanks to Hilary M. in guest services. She was the first to warmly welcome me to the hotel and efficiently check me in. Her timely and professional approach exemplifies the type of service I seek when choosing accommodations in a new city. I appreciate her going the extra mile with the simple effort that exceeded my expectations. Thanks to her, my stay at the Wyndham has been incredibly welcoming, and I eagerly anticipate returning in the future!"
"I will start with the location of the hotel, the location is perfect. The hotel is close to many attractions and downtown. Although the location is top, the hotel and it’s staff deserves 1 star. On the day of the check-in after a super long flight, the receptionist told me that there was a problem with check-in so he could not immediately charge my credit card. Then he made a copy of my credit card and passport so that he or anyone from the front-desk could charge my credit card later. After they gave me a key for the room, I immediately went to sleep because I was super tired after such a long flight. In couple hours I went outside to get a few things for 7/11 (which is around the corner) and when I wanted to go back into my room but my key didn't work. I then went to reception and the receptionist had issued a new key. Then the same thing again, the new key didn't work. This happened a number of times. Suddenly the security employee came and said that the lock of my room was blocked because I had not paid for my room. I then went to reception again and the front-desk staff said I had to pay for my room. I then explained that one of the receptionists had made a copy of my passport and credit card because there were problems with the system upon check-in. No one knew anything about it, which I thought was quite strange, but whatever. Then I paid with another credit card. The room is very small, the shower is old and dirty, you have no view, no fridge or kettle in the room. I stayed on the 21st floor and the WiFi was super bad. On the second night, it had gotten a bit colder and I wanted to turn on the heating. I felt asleep and suddenly I woke up from the following sounds (see the video). I also asked the staff for a room change because of the noises, but they said they were completely full. Which I don't believe, but okay. I think the customer service is very poor."
"We had a wonderful experience! The hotel is conveniently located. We took the train in from Albany, emerged from Penn Station and looked right at the hotel. We were given an upgrade to a suite, and the room and view were outstanding. The room was dated in some ways, but it was immaculately clean. The view of the Empire State Building was also fantastic. We felt very safe and secure with the constant monitoring and card checking at the elevators, and all the staff was exceedingly helpful and friendly. The only negative I can come up with was that the bathroom, especially the shower, isn’t designed for anyone above 5’8”, maybe, and at 6’0”, I had to duck to wash my hair. There were also some small cosmetic issues (one knob was missing on the desk drawer, the porcelain in the tub was definitely showing age). But we also loved the art deco style and feel, especially the cool star lights!"
"Staff super friendly and helpful, not sure about the hotel, stayed in standard queen room, really small, very dark, toilet so close to the wall you had to sit on it at an angle. The room was clean, bedding very clean, mattress did sag lots in the middle, but was comfortable, maids came in each day and made the bed and cleaned up, maids did a first class job. Room was always warm you do have room temperature control which was nice. The sound proofing isn't very good, you can hear people in room next door talking, using the toilet, having a shower especially at 7am!!! There are a lot of down and outs/homeless all around the area of the hotel, they did ask for money, smoking weed, it was a bit off putting, made my kids feel a little insecure, I wouldn't recommend the hotel for this very reason."
"This is our fourth time staying at the New Yorker and it definitely didn't disappoint. It's convenient to the train station (literally across the street), Macy's and Times Square. We were even able to walk to our Broadway Theater this time around. Most importantly though, The staff was friendly and helpful and especially welcoming to our kids. The diner downstairs has become a staple for us. Diner type dishes but everything tastes fresh and well made."
