"It was my first experience with Metropolitan Vet and I was impressed with the kindness and care they provided. We had to take our cat for end of life care (took a turn for worse on weekend). They had a separate entrance to the Comfort Room. It was cozy and pleasant. Not like a sterile exam room. Staff was so nice. Overall a much more peaceful experience than I anticipated. Helps my broken heart deal better."
"I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care my dog, Blitz, received at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates. The staff demonstrated unwavering compassion and expertise during a challenging time. From the moment we walked in, their commitment to Blitz's well-being was evident. The veterinarians communicated transparently, answered all my questions, and provided thorough updates throughout the process. The facility is well-equipped, clean, and the genuine care for animals is palpable. Thank you, Metropolitan Veterinary Associates, for going above and beyond in ensuring the health and happiness of our furry family members. Five stars without a doubt!"
"My dog Howie went developed an autoimmune disease and honestly we weren't sure he would pull thru (he did and is thriving ❤️) The doctors and staff were wonderfully knowledgeable and supportive during the difficult time.. we continue with our check ups to keep my boy healthy! I highly recommend this group!"
"Dr. Schwab and MVA came highly recommended by our local vet and online reviews. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations. We were referred to Dr. Schwab in June of 2021 after our 5 year old female lab tore her left CCL. Because of pandemic restrictions we never met Dr. Schwab but did speak with him over the phone to ask questions and success rates for the recommended TPLO procedure. We were told that TPLO was the “gold standard” for CCL repair and the greatest risk was infection. It really became evident our dog was not progressing between 6-8 weeks post op. At her 8 week checkup, her x rays showed everything had healed properly but our dog was non-weight bearing on hard surfaces. Dr. Schwab referred us for rehabilitation services at Fit For A Dog. Susan McIntyre was great to work with and while my dog did show immediate improvement following treatment, gains were short and she quickly reverted back to hiking up her left leg on hard surfaces. After a month (out of pocket) of no noticeable long term gains, we ceased rehabilitation services. Over time we noticed that her left paw was contracted, rigid, and she could not extend or separate the digits on her left paw. It became increasingly apparent she had some type of nerve impairment. When we went back to Dr. Schwab he said we had a “1 in 1000 dog” and suggested removing the hardware (at additional cost to us) with no guarantee of improvement. We opted not to pursue a subsequent surgery and changed our home routine to include driving her to a nearby dog park so she can walk on a soft surface versus walking her on neighborhood sidewalks and streets. Fast forward 12 months and she tears her right CCL. This time we sought the services of Dr. Stephen Mehler at Main Line Vet. Because of her loss of function from the first TPLO, Dr. Mehler recommended the less invasive TTA procedure. Her recovery was night and day. After her TPLO, we had to sedate and carry her for several days post-op (we now know her body was shock from the trauma). The first day we took her home from TTA, she was weight bearing and even showed interest in going out in the yard with our other dog. We never needed a sedative. Needless to say she recovered with no issues and has full function of her right rear leg. Dr. Mehler was amazing to work with. He called us to check in on our dog’s recovery and even gave us his cell phone number for questions/concerns. She is now 26 months post op from her initial TPLO surgery and she still does not have full function of her left leg. Because of the contracture and lack of extension, the nails on that paw are warn down to the quick which we believe may be contributing to her discomfort. We manage with a daily routine of dog park, Gabapentin and Rimadyl for flare ups. We had started emailing concerns about my dog’s recovery beginning 3 weeks post op and were advised to wait for her scheduled 8 week post op visit. Never once did we feel MVA had our dog’s best interest at heart. Their defense was to hide behind the medical release form we signed and recommend a second surgical procedure. Sadly, from our experience we did not feel MVA cared about our dog or her outcome and are only driven by profit."
"I had been to this veterinary practice many years ago with a very sick dog, who had diabetes and pancreatitis. They were unbelievable with his care, and he recovered because of them! I remember waiting a long time and being stressed for my dog. We probably waited a long time because I had come in through the emergency room department. Fast forward eight years later with my current dog who is presenting with signs of pain, significant symptoms. The receptionist who answered my call to schedule my appointment was so calm and confident. He was able to offer me an appointment within the week with an orthopedist. This time I was seen right away. Dallas was evaluated and treated by Dr. Sawyer with.great care, a touch of love and a lot of thoroughness. Since she couldn’t pinpoint the cause of his pain, she walked him over the to the neurologist to get a second opinion. Between the two of them, they figured out his diagnosis, offered me options and answered all my questions. Honestly, I think most practices would’ve made me schedule a different appointment with a neurologist I am so grateful that we have this facility available to us in this area. I would highly recommend it to anyone who needed specialty care."
