"I have not been to this store since my student teaching days, but a great spot for projects, educational toys and more. I needed some brown paint for a project. I was painting a tree for a Trunk or Treat event at my church, and Lakeshore had the size of paint I needed and was just the right cost. I was able to find what I needed, even though I haven't been here in a long time. What made this shopping experience so great, was the nice man that assisted me with my purchase. He was so helpful and kind. I mean he made me smile. That I was overjoyed that he helped me again when I returned the 2nd bottle of paint that I didn't use. He surely must of heard of the saying, Be the reason someone smile! I hope Lakeshore will keep this sweet guy around and wish other places had people like him. I give him 10 stars for the best customer service."
"I came here during the day and the store was fairly empty since this is a teacher store, all the teachers are working. The store was moderately stock however they use to sell classroom furniture and in the past I got an amazing deal on their chairs which online sells for $39 but I paid around $10 or $12 each however since the pandemic they haven't had any furniture. The clerks were very friendly."
"I am really sorry to read some of these one star reviews. I have to say over the years I visit this store I have always had nothing but fantastic customer service and all the employees have been eager to help. I was just there today for 2.5 hours and we could shopped longer. Even the other teachers that shop at Lakeshore were very friendly. I think Lakeshore just has a great reputation of selling quality materials we are just so excited that we live so close and are able to visit frequently."
"I am a first year teacher and I decided to visit this educational store with excitement, because I’ve always heard so many great things. However, during my experience at Lakeshore, I was very disappointed. I’m a young African American woman and when my sister and I entered the store neither one of us was greeted nor asked if we needed assistance with anything. The employee walked past me on at least three different occasions and nothing. There were only maybe 4 customers in the store at that time. So there was no excuse for that kind of customer service. Even with that, I was still persistent on buying a couple of thesauruses for my classroom. As I was still browsing, I can hear the conversation of another customer that was at the register, who happened to be an older Caucasian woman. The conversation, of course, was very pleasant and amicable. So when it was my turn to be checked out, all of sudden the cashier became very cold and stoic. No conversation took place at all. I will never spend my good, hard-earned money at this particular Lakeshore Educational store, and I would not recommend this store to anyone. This is very disappointing that I have to write a review like this in 2018... This purchase ended with a return of the items and reimbursement."
"I came in to buy coloring books for my niece and nephew. It was the middle of the afternoon, and there was only one other customer there. I walked in, but was not greeted by either one of the two young ladies working there. I walked around the store for about ten minutes, and still hadn't been greeted. At that point, a customer came in, who was promptly greeted and asked if she needed help finding anything. ...I should mention that I'm a young, African-American woman, and the customer who came after me was White. The two sales associates were also White. I hung around for about a minute after that, just to see if either sales associate would recognize the fact that I had not been greeted and fix it, but neither did. On my way out the door, one of them said, "Have a good one." I did not respond. Do I think this is a case of discrimination? No, absolutely not. Do I think this is a case of poor customer service? Yes. Yes, I do. This store, from my experience, usually has excellent customer service. But, to be honest, I was disappointed. I'm now on my way to another merchant. Please, let this be a lesson to anyone who works in retail. They tell you to greet EVERY customer for a reason... will not be coming back soon."
