The International Black Women's Public Policy Institute (IBWPPI)
About the Business
The International Black Women's Public Policy Institute (IBWPPI) is a non-profit organization located in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States. Our mission is to connect and advocate for Black women globally through acts of kindness and public policy. Founded by Barbara A. Perkins and Ka Flewellen, inspired by the legacy of Dr. Dorothy I. Height, we focus on five main pillars: Violence Against Women, Education, Health and Wellness, Economic Security, and the Eradication of Human Sex Trafficking.
We work to evaluate the impact of current public policies and initiate new policies to address threats to the well-being of Black women and their families. IBWPPI tracks and supports state and federal legislation related to these issues, including efforts to eliminate human trafficking.
We have established a Reading Room Initiative in each country where we convene, and focus on reducing gender-based violence, particularly within intimate relationships. Our goal is to prepare the next generation of leaders and foster humanitarian ties and philanthropic commitments.
With representation in countries throughout the African diaspora, including the Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, Ghana, Haiti, South Africa, and the United States, IBWPPI is dedicated to expanding its reach and impact every two years. Join us in creating positive change and advocating for Black women worldwide.
