Soundcheck Rock Academy

"The Columbia Rock School has exceeded my expectations! My boys (8 and 9) started taking lessons and quickly fell in love. They were placed in a real band and are playing songs they love. Their band is performing on Main Street in Ellicott City and at the M3 Rock Festival at Merriweather Post this Spring. Our whole family loves to watch and support them. They ask to practice all the time! I saw them having so much fun and when the Rock School opened an adult band, I also joined! I'm having a blast. I highly recommend the school. Update - 12/20 My boys are 2 years older and their musical progress is crazy. They've kept up with their lessons virtually and with safe in-person practices. They've also had an activity that occupies them at home WITHOUT a screen. Both boys are learning songs on their own and have developed a true love of music. As an adult, I began doing drum lessons during the pandemic and I can't wait to show off my new skills. We're all looking forward to playing out soon! Happy Holidays Soundcheck Family! Update - 12/21 We are continuing to have an amazing experience with Soundcheck Rock Academy. The community that is being built there is supportive, welcoming and fun. We have had concerts at amazing locations like Merriweather, Rams Head, Camden Yards and the Ellicott City music festival. It is fun for the whole family and incredibly rewarding to see your child's progress. Now I am taking lessons and playing in one of their adult bands. It is like fantasy camp every week thanks to Soundcheck. Happy Holidays and have a great 2022. Update 12/23 - It's amazing to see the progress and we feel a strong connection to the school. It is a big part of our weekly routine and we are excited for every concert. Word has gotten out that this school and community ROCK. In response, the school has more instructors and a simple way to communicate. There are now 7 adult bands and the comaraderie is awesome. My family and I are proud to be members. Happy Holidays!"

"My daughter and I both LOVE Soundcheck Rock Academy. She had Sophie for her voice teacher and I had Mike teach me ukulele. Mike is so very patient and kind. With no previous music background whatsoever, I received a ukulele as a Christmas gift three years ago and began to teach myself using online videos. My husband thought I would benefit from in person lessons and I had the privilege of having Mike as my teacher. He had to really start from the very basics with me. He is an incredibly gifted musician and I am amazed at his ability to hear a piece of music and recreate it instantly. He thought me things I could have never mastered on my own. I so much enjoyed our lessons. He is easy to converse with, very humble, kind, and talented. The staff is warm and professional and very accommodating to our crazy family schedule. It was easy to make up classes and Dave is a great communicator! The owner is super easy to talk to as well! Overall this has been an amazing experience!!! Music is such a gift and we were enriched beyond measure by our experience at Soundcheck Academy!!! The place is a gem!!!"

"These guys are great! Love to rock, love to teach, and really love what they do. I definitely recommend them for kids wanting to learn how to play in a band! And, under the current circumstances of social distancing, their studios are large enough to accommodate a 6ft distance between student and teacher. They have a good setup and it feels safe."

"Our son was ecstatic from the tour alone to start lessons! We love that they combine private lessons while also giving the kids the opportunity and encouragement to practice what they learn with a band! The bands are kids in their own age group and they also have them perform at real venues in the area!
