"No parking for the disabled.♿️ I was told to park in the garage 2 blocks away. I found a spot in the lot connected to the M & T Bank that seemed to indicate they had some type of parking (see photo and tell me what you think.) so I parked in one of those spots. Went in and told Whitney at the front desk, who told me I’d get towed. The manager said the owner, Charles Riser, said it’s downtown Frederick and they don’t have to provide parking. I was shocked they could thumb their noses at the ADA that way. I pressed the manager about the disability issue and if the owner said they don’t have to provide handicapped parking, but she couldn’t clearly answer if the owner was aware I had disabilities and a disability tag on my vehicle. Nor could she answer clearly who those signs in the parking lot were for. I’m fairly certain I heard her say “staff.” I was treated dismissively and when I asked to cancel the appointment since I couldn’t park anywhere compliant, the manager nonchalantly complied. It felt like no one cared. No apologies, nothing. City Hall and the bank that shares the lot had different versions to tell me when I went to talk to each of them. But in general, downtown Frederick is NOT disability friendly. Especially The Temple Paul Mitchell School."
"Jojo gave me a great haircut today! I have very thick and very coarse hair which often trips people up but she took it all in stride. I asked for a significant chunk of hair to be cut off and she made it look so fresh and cute! I will definitely be coming back and asking for Jojo to do my hair next time :)"
"I attended the Temple Downtown Frederick for a year and a half, graduating in September of 2023. I definitely think that beauty school is what YOU make of it, and YOUR held accountable for how you choose to spend your time there. That being said, I do think the school itself should be held accountable for the staffing issues they seem to have had a majority of the time I spent there; as well as classroom structure, up to date techniques being thought, and the professionalism of their staff. I had many pleasant experiences while I was here, however I do not believe that it was worth the cost. If I could do it again I would go to a less expensive school because now I know I would get the same level of education anywhere else."
"The students (future professionals) have been great, as well as the instructors. The reception staff however, leave something to be desired. Rude, curt, and unpleasant. After canceling my appointment made a week in advance due to a guest speaker, which I understand, you would think the receptionist would at least be apologetic and maybe try to reschedule me rather than act like I was bothering her. Very disappointing. Again, the actual hair services I have received have been good, but there is no excuse for poor behavior and rudeness from the receptionist."
"I’ve been a few times and will continue to return! At my most recent visit, I got a cut and basic color (grey coverage/blending) with Julia. She was fantastic!! Better than most seasoned professionals I’ve seen. There are benefits to seeing someone who is learning - they really take the time to listen, ask questions, look at pictures, etc. The learning leaders sign off on their plan (prior to starting on your hair) and will check in throughout the process. Great salon!"
