Reviews of Sheppard Pratt - Towson Campus
"Rookie counseling - as if there was a script of responses being read. Refusal from psychiatrist to help with next level care (simply gave a phone number to a counseling center in my area that has been booked with no wait list for years). And in fact hurt our ability to transition home by refusing to support residential care and homebound school services. Now we are home with a very sick child."
"This was such a abusive place to be in I still have trauma of how I was treated there at 11 YEARS OlD! They treated us like we were not human and threatened us multiple times I was in the kid part of it for trying kms and sh but they were just teaching about anger issues. Also as 11 YEAR OLD we had take care of the younger kids( fk 3 year old) there instead of the adults and we were isolated from the rest of the world not aloud go out side with horrible food that you couldn’t even stomach will being screamed at by the adults there It did not helped me at all it made me worse if I could vote it negative a hundred I would I still cry myself to because of my experience there."
"I was admitted to Sheppard Pratt Towson Campus on 12/16/22 for 8 days. I was in the Male Adolescent Crisis Stabilization unit (E1). Today I sit here in my room (not in the ward don’t worry lol) on 12/16/23. I made it. Happy 1 year wardiversary. “It is always ok in the end. If it is not ok, it is not yet the end” - Unknown"
"I have had two interactions with SP as a parent and I am less than impressed. Zero time spent working on a safety, family or transition plan for returning home after an 8yo child started a fire and only scheduling follow up appointments after being asked. They refused to give recommendations for anything to help a single parent out and told me to return him to their crisis clinic if there is a problem. We walked into the clinic today, less than a month after discharge. We waited 4 hrs at the clinic just to be told we couldn’t be seen and would need to go through the ER at a local hospital for admission. Working in the behavioral health field, I am appalled at the services my family received at Sheppard Pratt and based on these experiences would never recommend anyone go to SP."
"I was impatient for 3 weeks last year and to say the least, it was uncomfortable. In the all female juvenile unit there was a large man banging on our doors and yelling at us to wake up. I got yelled at for not being able to sleep, I begged my dad to bring me home. It took days for me to get my clothes and the staff were often rude. I asked to talk with someone and they brushed me off. There was also a time when two patients, one of them being a 11-12 year old girl was sitting on a counter and kicking the cabinet. They let a large man pin her down and try and calm her. She was strapped to a bed for hours. I understand that they need to do thise things sometimes to keep other patients and staff safe, but they still shouldn't big, intimating men work in a ward where many of the patients have experienced assault and abuse. Let alone letting them bang on your doors and yell at us."
