"As we near my sons first birthday I am reminded how fast time has flown and how I have been meaning to write this review since the day he was born! My husband and I chose Riverside after interviewing a couple midwifery practices. We liked that they were a team, all with holistic views on birth & life in general, and that we would get to meet them all before our birth. While they all had the mindsets we were looking for, they were each their own practitioner and had their own unique skills & opinions which we very much appreciated. Looking back there are 3 events that really set Riverside Midwives apart as true healing presences. 1. At one point we had a scheduling miscommunication and as a first time mom in my 3rd trimester it triggered a deep fear around birth for me. Nannette calmly sat down with me, asked thoughtful questions, and was able to get to the bottom of what I was really upset about. She did not sugar coat her responses but shared a personal experience that helped bring me back to a state of calm reality that carried me through the rest of the pregnancy. 2. I hemorrhaged when my son was born. I had, had a "textbook" pregnancy yet there is always the possibility of things like this happening. As first time parents who chose homebirth having only known one other person who chose this path, my husband and I spent a lot of our visits asking the, "what if's". Their experience & confidence gave us peace of mind that wherever our birth took us, it would be the right path. Immediately following our sons delivery in our home, my blood pressure dropped into the 70's/60's, my attending midwife, Chris, calmly explained what was happening and what she was going to do. Within minutes my blood pressure stabilized. What could have turned into a dramatic/traumatic moment didn't. 3. As new parents we were simultaneously in awe & terrified of everything. Our midwives answered all of our frantic communication for the 6 weeks following our birth, including our text messages with pictures of baby poop & cracked nipples :) At our 24 hour in home check up Chris suggested that I write my birth story down so that I could share it with others. I began to cry and she asked, "What is that traumatic?" To which I responded, "No, it was that beautiful." We will absolutely be using Riverside Midwifery for our next birth!"

"I switched to Riverside for the birth of my second child, and I regret not doing it sooner. (I had a good experience with a midwife hospital birth before, but this is so much better). The quality of care and, more importantly, support, you get from the midwives and birth assistants far surpasses that of a typical OB or hospital midwife practice. Aside from your hour-long prenatals, Riverside also holds group appointments, which is unique in our area, where you spend hours talking about optimal fetal positioning, postpartum care for the MOTHER, how to prepare your family, labor coping, etc. And homebirth is very affordable. I would highly recommend attending one of their Q&A meet and greets, held monthly."
