"My wife and I had an area rug that needed cleaning. Our dog knocked over coffee that spilled all over it. We ended up trying to power wash it, and use our carpet cleaner, but the carpet smelled pretty bad. It was a nice area rug, so we decided to try to get it professionally cleaned. We found ChemDry, and my wife gave them a call. They told us how much they charge per foot, and they estimated it would be around $35 to clean our rug. We thought it was a great deal, so I threw the rug in my truck and dropped it off. Walking into the building, an intense smell of cigarette smoke hit my nose. I had immediate doubts about if they were going to be able to get the smell out of the rug. Would my carpet smell like cigarettes after they cleaned it? I asked the employee “are you sure you are going to be able to clean it?” She said they definitely will get it clean, and the reason it smelled was because we power washed it and it never dried fully. This made sense, and her confidence put me at ease. Fast forward about 2 weeks, and my wife called them to follow up. They said that the carpet still smelled, and they would recommend a pet cleaning treatment. My wife was concerned that it was going to be expensive, but the employee said our bill will be no more than $50. We agreed to have the second treatment done. And my wife specifically said that if any additional charges were going to happen, we WANTED TO KNOW. Fast forward another week, and my wife called again to follow up. They said we could pick the carpet up on Friday. They did tell us the carpet still had a mild smell. We didn’t want to spend any more money on it at the time, so I went to pick it up. When I arrived, they said the bill was $88. I thought it was going to be $50 and they said that they did 3 cleaning for free and only charged us for one. I was pretty frustrated because they said it wasn’t going to be more than $50, and now our bill was almost $90. They said that it was $35 for the original cleaning, and then an ADDITIONAL $50, which came to $88 after tax. This makes sense, the communication was absolutely horrible. As the customer, we did not realize this. Also, when we opened the carpet at home, it was still damp! The smell was the same, if not slightly worse than it was when we dropped it off. You can smell a lemon scent, so I know they tried to clean it, but it still stinks horribly. They also said the reason the carpet smelled is because it wasn’t dried fully, yet they didn’t dry it fully! The last thing that grinds my gears, is that we called to get a refund. We were willing to pay the $50 we agreed upon, but wanted to be refunded $35. We were told the owner was going to call us either Friday or Monday to speak with us. It is now Wednesday and we have not heard from him. To recap. We are out $88, still have a carpet that stinks and is damp, and the owner has not called us when we were told he was going to. Very poor service."
