"I attended Roots Activity Learning Center as a child before I moved away to Atlanta. Roots gave me an understanding of pride and taught me to be proud of my african heritage. We celebrated kwanzaa and played the drums as we grew up. I am now a graduate of Lincoln University of Missouri and run my own business, Chase Real Estate Investments. The love Roots has showed has been unmatched at any other educational facility I have been to. With that said I plan to one day open a school for young black children and provide the resources that lack in our communities. "EXCELLENT I have four children that attended Roots. They are all grown adults. The oldest graduated from Clark University, and now lives in Brazil and is working to establish his business The next one went on to graduate with honors from Howard U, got a masters degree at NYU, and is presently working on a Masters degree to become a physician’s assistant. The next child graduated from Spelman and is a paralegal. She is presently applying to graduate school The forth child finished Claflin University and is preparing for graduate school. I can’t say it was easy for any of them, but I do know that the foundation set down by roots has been a strong one. The best thing is that there is an authentic respect for our people, and a wonderful sense of agency."
