"After my dog was experiencing severe symptoms, we were able to schedule a last minute appointment a hour away from our home at this location. After being 15 minutes late because of the last minute appointment, and far drive, Mario at the front desk refused us. He was both rude and unkind. I explained the situation and that my dog was terribly ill. Instead of hearing me out he continued to cut me off and tell me they could not help us. A week later, my dog has now transitioned and is no longer with us. Although we were able to scramble something later at another ER that evening we did not get the full service that Banfield could have potentially provided before it was too late to help my precious Reign. RIP to my sweet sweet boy. I would NEVER recommend this place. No empathy or kindness. However banfield in ARUNDELL mills was so kind and gracious with us through the euthanizing process a few days later. The ARUNDELL Mills location was kind, understanding and very very helpful in the end."
"I was hesitant to write this review because I love the vet that my pet sees (Dr. Hirsch is awesome!), but the reception was rude to my partner and I this morning (21 December) while trying to take care of an urgent issue. My dog has an infection on his neck which he was treated for yesterday and needed a cone to prevent him from scratching the wound. I went in at 0700 to see about getting a cone and the woman working asked me if I was a member already (I am). After that, I was told by reception that "PetSmart has cheaper and better quality cones". I expressed to her that I was willing to pay more for a cone from them because it was an urgent issue. She then asked me "Well do you have your pet here" to which I responded no. She then informed me that my pet would need to be there for them to give me a cone. I told her I would come back at 0900 when PetSmart opened to purchase one because I could not make other accommodations at that moment because I had to work. Fast forward 25 minutes, my partner was thankfully able to take time out of his morning to bring my dog in to receive the cone (because the reception told me that he needed to be present to get a cone from them). At this point, two ladies were at reception and told my partner that they didn't tell me that my dog needed to be there to get a cone, and that he would have to wait until 0900 when PetSmart opens to purchase one. *I had told the woman working at the front desk that I would come back at 0900. I needed to make arrangements at work*. At this point, I'm not sure why there was conflicting information coming from the front desk. The woman working told me that I needed my pet there to receive a cone, and then told my partner that she didn't say that to me. My partner asked them again (because again, this is an urgent issue that could cause a worse infection if not handled), to which the front desk told him with a rude tone to go pick out a cone and find a PetSmart employee. Thankfully he was able to find a very kind PetsHotel employee to assist him. She was very personable and understanding of the situation and was able to take care of him in a quickly manner. She even verified that the size of the cone would fit my dog. I have been going to Banfield at the Columbia location for 1.5 years now and have never encountered an issue with reception until this morning. It appears that they are new hires (I could be completely wrong) because I have not seen either employees at the countless appointments I have been to. The lack of empathy and quality of customer service was unacceptable for what I pay monthly for the OWP. I understand that everyone has rough days or mornings, but it is also unacceptable in this career field. I recommend better customer service training as I see I am not the only one to have written a review in this regard."
"If I could give Banfield Columbia less than a 1 I would. I just called this am, 12/9 because my dog is not waking, not going potty, and lethargic. I was told because she was recently seen by 3 docs and they deemed her healthy - symptoms are worst BTW, that I need to take her somewhere else instead of the vet I see. I told her I have never heard of not being able to bring my dog to its vet. She said she only has 3 docs instead of 8 and no appointments until February. I am literally in shock. I have Banfield insurance but I will take my 2 dogs to Another Vet who cares."
"For 12 years This clinic have been my trusted hospital for my dog Max. Everything was great, professional and caring. However, in the last 6 months customer service is really poor. Appointments for the health plan are not available for months . Today 11/25/23,The individual at the front desk was not efficiently manage the issue. I am paying for a plan and services are not provided according to the contract. Looks like they do not care the well-being of the pets.. but only the money. Unacceptable!!!!"
"Banfield was amazing in assisting us with sending our Nicki girl home and making sure our family as well as our baby was comfortable as she was laid to rest. A couple weeks later we received a personalized card from Banfield signed by all of the doctors and nurses which definitely brought smiles to a grieving family. Thank you Dr. Hirsch, Hayley, Karl, Katie, Caroline, Erika, Holly, and Patty. We appreciate everything you have done for our family and your thoughts during this time. Thank you!"
