Reviews
"The treated me well, my hair not so much. The two star review is broken down as follows: (⭐️) Service- The staff was very amicable and greeted me as I walked in, always respectful. I did not have an appointment, but they happily took me in. (-⭐️) Cut- I walked in with an overgrown fade and hair on the top of my head ranging from 2 to 4 inches in length, as I usually style it to the side. I asked for a low fade, and not much off the top as I like to style my hair a few different ways. This helps when I want my hairline to he less apparent. When we were done, I felt like the cut was not what I asked for. It doesn’t look bad, but I can’t really tell there’s a fade on the sides and sideburns, and I have very little hair left on the top of my head, meaning that I can only style it in the fashion the barber styled it. He did style it in a way that hides my hairline a bit, but nevertheless, not in the way I asked for. (-⭐️) Time- Usually I complain that barbers in chain salons take too little time with my hair, as I grew up going to barbers who took their time to clean up all my lines, back, and sideburns with a straight razor, top with scissors, and fade with clippers. I was feeling good when the barber took his time- almost an hour, but the end result you can see in the photos looks like a 10 minute buzz cut. I ended up arriving late for work with a haircut different than what I asked for. (-⭐️) Price- When all was said and done, the barber charged me $50 for a haircut and a quick beard shape-up. The current price sheet on the wall said haircuts were $30. This means that he must have charged me $20 for lining up my beard, which I had trimmed and shaped myself the night before; I say this to emphasize that it was a very light beard line-up. He then asked for gratuity, which of course I added due to etiquette, plus I wasn’t going to deny a tip during the holidays. That being said, I drove all the way to work regretting the $10 gratuity. There was also a new price sheet on the wall with higher prices coming into effect in 2024 (three weeks from the date of this haircut and review) but even those higher prices do not add up to the price they charged me. (⭐️) Ambience- The salon was lively, good music was playing, and there was a good movie on the screen which captivated my attention. I’m not a big sports fan, so I appreciated that they weren’t playing any here. Not everyone watches sports, but everyone can enjoy a movie. Some other things worth mentioning are the fact that they did not take card payments, and that it kind of looks closed from the outside. I had to use a money transfer app, which wasn’t a problem, but I hope this helps someone who might not have cash or an app on hand. From the outside you see what once was a reception area, dimly lit and filled with boxes and random supplies, but check the door because it might still be open."
"The best barber in Pittsburgh."
"Clean Pleasant did not need a appointment price was responsible service was great I will go again"
"My sister had her haircut on February 19th it was atrocious I felt so bad for her she did make a post but the owner I assume took down part of her comments but that's all right it's all on Facebook you can see the type of work that the barber did to her hair"
"Been going to the same barber shop for 20+ years. Always a good time in Big Al's. Neighborhood staple where most of the customers are considered family than customers. Al runs his business legit where all barbers are licensed. Personal barber Shawn (Diddy) probably top 5 barbers in the city. If you don't call ahead of time, the wait for service will be excessive. Also be prepared for "shop talk" as most convos rated at pg-13 or higher. They try their best to monitor topics based off of clientele in the shop. However, some stuff does slide through. Overall good experiences though!"
