"We adopted an 8 yr old kitty with (undetected)cardiomyopathy. He’s had 3 great visits and is stable, no meds. The staff is kind, professional, and explain things very well. I’m sure he will thrive under their care."
"I have been taking my dog, Maggie Mae, to CVCA the last few years to monitor her heart murmur. We have been blessed to receive good reports which gives me peace of mind for another year. We are always treated kindly and, more important, they treat Maggie Mae with respect and patience. Dr. Tyrrell is so wonderful to work with and just has a way of making you feel at ease and always explains the echocardiogram as he is doing it. We drive an hour from Hanover, PA but it is worth it!!!!"
"After 8 months, Flapjack, 116 pound, male, neutered, 7 year old Akbash/Great Pyrenees mix, adopted by our pack at 4.5 years of age, was due at CVCA for a recheck for dilated cardiomyopathy and atrial fibrillation. Dr. Tilley and staff checked BP, heart rate and performed an echocardiogram on Flapjack. Miraculously, every cardiac parameter had improved from originally very grim to “decent” or “very good”. While we expected to hear that Flappy was on his way out, we learned that he might just be with us for years to come. 8 months of good nutrition, lots of love and attention, along with daily doses of Pemobindan, Spironolacton, fish oil and taurine, have potentially reverted Flappy’s prognosis from dire to very promising. I could not be any more grateful for the care and treatment that Flappy has received at CVCA. Flappy is my 23rd adopted rescue. Yes, I am old. The fact that we may be able to share more years with this gentle giant, attributable to the care and treatment of CVCA, causes us indescribable joy. Thank you all at CVCA very much for helping Flappy to have a second chance."
"Previous experience with CVCA was phenomenal. Yesterday was disappointing. Not what has been the norm. Several family dogs were sent there previously and not the case. We were referred to the Frederick office as Emergency care was needed and Leesburg couldn’t accommodate due to no Cardiologist on duty. This is an emotional time and expertise was sought and the office closed with no assessment. They did want to keep the dog overnight without treatment so he would’ve suffered with respiratory distress. Polar opposite of expectations and previous experience."
"Dr. Schmitt was wonderful! She was very gentle with my dog, very thorough, explained everything I needed to know about his condition, and took time to answer my questions. The technician who assisted her also did a very nice job dealing with my nervous boy, and was also very gentle with him. I would highly recommend CVCA."
