"It was the worst salon experience my daughters and I had yesterday. If you have naturally curly or coily hair, this is NOT the place for you. I was very diligent when I went inside the salon the week prior to make my appointment to ask if they did natural hair. The receptionist assured me they did which I can assure you is not accurate. We started off with a scalp treatment which when she was parting the hair was very painful. (my hair was just unbraided from 8 plats the day prior so it was not tangled. Then the hair was steamed with the scalp treatment and then we went to the wash bowl. The scrubbing was so ROUGH, one of my daughters asked to check her scalp for nail marks. (never use nails to wash a scalp) In addition, when she was washing my daughter's hair, there was no caution taken to make sure the hair didn't get tangled and she over manipulated the ends with unnecessary rubbing. After the wash, there was a conditionner put on the hair, and that was promptly rinsed out. (NO comb or finger detangling done with the conditionner) The hair was then wrapped in a towel and we each waited for almost 1hr while she worked on the other person. Finally we went to the styling chair during which time she roughly separated out the hair into 5 big chunks and then used her paddle brush and DETANGLED FROM ROOT TO TIP. I unfortunately had an appointment that evening and resisted leaving with wet tangled hair. Several times, I had to tell her that the hair was being pulled and that my scalp was hurting. At some point, I would take the hair and actually remove the shed and ripped hair pieces that were getting caught in the hair in order to preserve the rest of my hair and scalp. It was the most excruciating blowdrying experience for all three of us. (there needs to be some training on proper detangling methods) You can't detangle afro-textured or curly hair the same way you would processed or straight hair. The hair needs to be detangled first and either clipped away or twisted away in sections before you start blowdrying one section at a time. Also, you should ALWAYS detangle FROM TIP TO ROOT. With the amount of access to information nowadays, everyone knows that basic concept: Youtube, Google. It was a horrible experience and they should really not take on clients whose hair they are not trained to take care of. I appreciate the salons that have turned me away as this shows they know their capacities and care about the experience of their patrons and aren't just out to make a buck. A hair salon experience should not cause excruciating pain to the scalp nor should it result in unnecessary hair being ripped out. When you tell your stylist that you are experiencing pain, she should change how she's proceeding not tell you to push through. Telling me and my daughters that our hair is dry when she was styling the hair is illogical. Afro-textured hair is naturally porous therefore you need to deep condition after a clarifying wash and also add a leave-in before blow drying. None of those things happened! Most importantly you can't detangle un-moisturized, towel dry afro-textured hair with a blowdryer. This place is great if you had a curl loosening treatment or straight hair. The entire time she kept telling us that if we got a Keratin treatment (which she insists isn't a chemical or relaxer???) that it would help with the tangles. I actually had to tell her that the tangles that we're experiencing are because the hair is not parted, it was not detangled properly and there is no moisturizing product on the hair. Worst of all, this entire process cost me $575. They use quality products but it's overpriced with a terrible experience. EVERYTHING in the salon service is a separate cost and their prices aren't advertised. Never again!"
"Brandy is a terrific stylist. She relies on her intuition and provides unique and thoughtful advice to each individual client. She also does a great job with color and will help her clients take risks, while not sacrificing the quality of their hair. She provides great advice about long term hair care and recommends top quality products. The salon is clean with a chill peaceful vibe and the staff is professional."
"I would like to share my experience with Salon Tenshi. Brandy is an excellent hair stylist. I have been with her for approximately 15 years. My hair is healthy and has been that way since she became my stylist. She treats her clients with respect. You can tell she is very knowledgeable about hair and which products would work for your particular hair type. If you are looking for a salon that exudes professionalism, great customer service and overall quality service, I would highly recommended Salon Tenshi!"
"If you’re looking for a salon that specializes in hair care and provides prompt, professional service, Salon Tenshi is the place for you! Brandy has been styling my hair for the last 7 years and I’ve never left the salon disappointed. She’s attentive to my requests, while also maintaining the health of my hair. I appreciate being able to schedule an appointment for a specific time, receiving service promptly at that time, and not spending hours upon hours in the salon. No complaints here!"
