"So we came to The Homestead Restaurant and Lounge for my husband’s 35th birthday and it was an excellent choice on that Sunday Evening! We had exceptional service from the seasoned waitress who was on staff that night. She was very attentive and quite informative. The bread basket is phenomenal with an array of breadsticks, cornbread and their made in house cinnamon raisin bread (it’s to die for). I definitely filled up on this before I even got my meal. The seasonal cider on tap was delicious especially with the cinnamon sugar rim! I opted for the specials that night: Fried Calamari and Tomato Soup. The calamari was soooo good, I wish there was an opportunity to order another but we scooped up the last order of the night. Tomato Soup was okay, I’ve had more flavorful ones but it sufficed! My son enjoyed the kids pasta with red sauce which was basically spaghetti! The potato wedges were massive and extra crunchy so we enjoyed that. The spinach and artichoke dip was pretty disappointing and quite watery to be a cream based dish. We were rewarded with a new dish bc it looked extremely watery but the replacement wasn’t really any better! We enjoyed ourselves and are definitely coming back for another Sunday night in the future. This place is beautiful and I’d love to explore the grounds when it’s light outside and not raining."
"Absolutely stunning! One of the best meals I've eaten and the atmosphere was perfect - beautiful views of the grounds and very comfortable. My wife had the special - Salmon and scallop burger - and I had the duck. Both were spectacular and the portions are generous. If you like spinach, order a side of their creamed spinach. Best side dish I've ever eaten - creamy but not heavy; fresh spinach; perfectly seasoned. The sticky toffee pudding was the perfect end to an amazing meal"
"Updated review: Came here again after 2 years to eat in the lounge this time and won’t be returning. I thought the food was extremely mediocre but the onion soup was extremely off—just liquid salt. I’d say a spoon of salt for the little bowl. But what’s worse is that I’ve been up all night extremely Ill. My stomach hasn’t been this messed up in a long time. I blame the soup. The sliders were like McDonald’s sliders..chicken and spring rolls were okay nothing amazing…Caesar salad was good. I really love how beautiful and classy the place looks and wish I could return but after tonight that’s just not going to happen. One day I might return for the drinks just for the ambiance and atmosphere but definitely not eating anything there. 2021: Service was very good. Everyone was very nice and attentive. Food was very good. Had the duck, watermelon salad, chicken liver pate, new england clam chowder. Loved the ambiance and ultra modern look. Was not a fan of the desserts, just lots of cream. The delicious bread made up for it though. My only critique would be the cheap ritz crackers offered with the liver pate--should be some multi grain, thin or crostini crackers something a little more fitting for such a nice restaurant. Also loved the fresh flowers at every table--thats always impressive."
"The food is expensive and did not taste good, Nor was it presented well. Super tiny portion, also disappointing that the online menu isnt the same as the actual menu. Some of the specialty cocktails & zucchini noodles offered, are not actually available. Honestly I ordered 3 different dishes, it was either sold out, or completely revolting (the turkey soup I couldn't believe they served something so gross looking/tasting). The absolute best dish among our group was the burger and giant crispy wedge fries. I will never eat there again, however I would return for a drink & enjoy the gardens, grounds, walkways, uplights, firepits. It's beautiful, the ambience is so relaxed, soothing, upscale. I wanted to give it 5 stars but the food is awful..so disappointed."
"First the good: the place is gorgeous both inside and out. The cocktails were on point and the service was friendly. The scallops and polenta were fantastic and the strip steak was properly cooked. There are however several areas that could stand improvement. The appetizers were ok, but nothing extraordinary. Stuffed mushrooms were lacking flavor. The bacon special was undercooked. The clam dip, while tasting more of the fish than clam, was good. The desserts were below par. The peach creme brulee, while tasting ok, had texture problems. The eggs were broken. It wasn't silky the way it should be. The parfait was generic, but ok. The pecan tart was low on taste. The best of the bunch was the blueberry pie and that was fairly ordinary as well. All in all the experience was lacking for the hefty prices charged. Our water glasses were never refilled, for instance. If you're going to charge premium prices, you need to provide premium service. And premium food. At half the price, this place would be 5 stars. As it was, it's only 3. I wanted to love it, but I can't recommend it."
