"The fact that I have to give them a star at all is an insult to 1 star rated businesses everywhere. This store is listed on Nike SB as the only retailer for SB dunk releases in the DMV, so for them to claim that “they never advertised a release today” is absolutely comical. If you are listed on the Nike website as a store that will have the shoes on 12/14 then your release has been advertised whether you want to have one or not. If you don’t want to have a release, then explicitly say you aren’t having one, or say you’re having a limited release, or turn people away that are waiting. You did nothing so that you could get mentions on the internet because people are baffled at the concept of a line in the year 2023. If you don’t want to do your job then remove yourself from being a listed retailer on the site, buy yourself a pair of sneakers, and have a day of release party on your own time by yourself. Don’t insult the customers who took time off, left their jobs, or found childcare with excuses for your poor organization on a day in which you could have made A LOT of money. I showed up for the release of the powerpuff dunks today and it was easily the most disorganized event I’ve ever seen. We were there an hour early, only for the owner to decide that they were now going to open an hour later than advertised (12 pm to 1 pm). This could have been a great opportunity to tell people what was going on btw… I sat there and watched the line to turn into a blob near the front as more and more people started to cut in front. Instead of giving numbers to customers or trying to get some sort of order the owner just sat in the back while his little henchman operated the door as poorly as humanly possible letting people in 2 at a time. This would have also been a pretty good time to tell people what was going on, or provide some sort of update on inventory… The guy they sent out to keep things organized had literally no answers whatsoever. He did not know about the inventory, he didn’t know when they were letting more people in, he didn’t know what colorways they had. I honestly am not even sure if he was an actual employee after how little he did today. We end up waiting until around 1:45 when the owner decides to come out and tell us to “come back tomorrow” and that they were going to hold on to the rest of the shoes and “raffle them off”. First of all - why would I ever come back to another poorly run, sheisty event run by your incredibly goofy employees? None of the people in line are your consistent clientele. We don’t care about your long term business, or being a part of building your internet clout. Do better or don’t do it at all. At no point did you or your little friend come out to give an update. You didn’t say “hey we have limited availability from our SNKRS pass drop”. You didn’t come out and say “hey we have size 8 in the bubbles, size 10 in blossom, etc”. You could have said literally ANYTHING and it would have been better than what transpired today. You saw a line in front of your store at 11am and didn’t come out to make wn announcement until 1:45 pm. When’s the last time you had a line at 11 am an hour before your store opens, or hell even a line at all??? So now that we’ve got that out in the open, please try not to cap in the replies when you inevitably say “Nonetheless, when seeing everyone this morning I had explained this in a nice and respectful manner.” It’s giving too much thesaurus. It’s 2023 and retail is failing across the board. You’re in customer service whether you like it or not, and today you didn’t service any of your customers. If I wanted to be disappointed without answers I would have stayed home and waited for SNKRS to get one over on me. Also, a bit of advice on that topic of customer service…people appreciate a sincere “my bad” much more than skirting responsibility. You were unprepared, nonchalant about wasting peoples time, and incredibly unprofessional. I wouldn’t come back to cop shoes from your store if mojojojo came to life and handed them to me himself. Do better."
"Corny store. This was one of three stores in the tri state area who did a PPG dunk release. There was no information on their website or ig and they don’t answer the phone. We got there at 10 waiting for a 12pm open. They don’t end up opening until 1pm (which they didn’t post on their ig store until after 12). While in line, no one handed out numbers, people were cutting and bombarding the door. and they even let someone from the back of the line come through the back door. We asked multiple times what sizes and quantities were available and they kept saying they “didn’t know”. After about 2.5 hours in line, we were finally in the front only to be told there were no more available. But to stay tuned for their drop on their instagram. While laughing in our faces from the comfort of their heated store. I thought y’all didn’t have anymore?! But you manage to find a few to get your ig engagement up? So after waiting 2.5 hours in 40° weather on questionable U St. whilst getting cut in front off pushed and given the run around by employees we left empty handed. It wouldn’t have been so bad if the employees were upfront, organized, and empathetic. But they weren’t. Completely unprofessional, unorganized and honestly just weird experience from start to finish. If this is any indication on how they run their business, I hope they aren’t here for much longer. There are better skate shops in the area than these dudes who want to play Rocket Power. Visit at your own risk."
"Terrible service. Never coming here again. My bf & I came here for the sb powderpuff drop since it was on the sb website that this store is participating. Not only did they never answer the phone, they posted last minute that they were opening an hr late while many of us were waiting for over 2hrs in the cold. They let 2 people go at a time & after 10 people had bought the sneakers they told us that they were out & had limited supply. They proceeded to tell us we should do the raffle online while laughing & smiling in front of our faces like it was a joke. Instead of letting people know they had limited supply to begin with they watched us wait in the cold. They were inconsiderate, immature, & very unprofessional. If I could give them a 0 start I would."
"The only skate shop in dc, but the people that work there are friendly, prices are far, and they have a wide variety of shoes and clothing as well. I always recommend calling in to see if they got your board size or a particular shoe since they don’t have it online."
"Great small skate shop in DC. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and you can tell they love what they do. Nice products and good variety for a small store. I highly recommend and will definitely come back again."
