"I’ve always loved going to Pete n Reenies but today will be my last meal there. It was so disappointing in so many ways. The restaurant was cold enough that we kept our coats on for the entire stay. The waiter took 10-15 minutes to take our drink order and there were only 3 other customers who were at the same table. When my husband asked for coffee, he was told that he’d have to see if they had any. They did. When our meal arrived, my fries were wet and limp from the greasy fish plopped on them. I ate little of my meal. Oh and when the waiter brought our food to the table, he told me that they didn’t have any forks. So I ate my meal with the spoon I got with my beverage. It’s rare for me to give such a negative review, but it was so unenjoyable. I think people should be aware. I’m going to miss this restaurant as it was in the past."
"Has changed since I was there prior to covid. My favorite place to be. 50/60 style and loved it for years by the previous owners. Just visited today for the first time and wanted one of their burgers. Wasn't the same but it was okay. I in conversation addressed a woman who then in turn was our waitress but also my husband about the beautiful chrome tables that use to be there. And, that they may have sold them when the business was sold. I remembered the old chrome ones were just so nice. Juke box was playing oldies as it did before and I looked around at many things that were still there. The only complaint I have is that I was given a menu. On that menu I looked to find the burgers as that's what I wanted. Ordered and gave the waitress the menu back. When the bill came it was rung up as a higher price as was my husband's soup. We addressed it and she told us that prices were subject to change. So we looked and inside the menu to see where that was stated. It was behind the cover on the bottom. It stated prices are subject to change. So I guess that anything on the menu could be any price they want to charge you. The waitress stated they cannot afford to keep changing the menus with the prices of things going up all the time. I would think if that was the case leave the price blank which is so much easier. It wasn't that much of a difference. But it was the point of it all. The note stated what it did. That meant if you seen a burger for 6.00 or anything else on that menu. You may be paying more. Maybe 8.00 or 10.00. But not one word from the waitress regarding that just as a reminder. I did comment on fb about their menu pricing and the owner who I never seen or talked to addressed the situation. Telling me that any mature adult who could read I believe would of seen the pricing issue on the front of their menu. It was not on the front as stated here and never advised upfront. They need better communication with their customers. BIG MISTAKE on going back there. PS. Would just like to note that my fb post on her site was just to let people know that if you order there that the price may be more than noted on the menu. I did have someone stating that they bought the place 4 years ago and was expecting my review. I have never entered a review for any business. She came back at me accusing me of saying things that I never said and I should go open up my own restaurant and good luck. Also she can put a menu out there with prices and change the prices as she chooses. It's not illegal. So everyone knows she deleted my comment and her very unprofessional comment back to me. Sad when someone can't speak the truth about a what I see as a possible bait and switch scenario."
"My father grew up in this town. He actually grew up in house within walking distance. I stopped by here for the first time last week. I arrived before they were actually open, by mistake. The friendly staff greeted me at the side TakeOut window. She offered to take my order with a friendly smile and had me come back in 15mins. When I returned my thick Strawberry Milkshake, 2 Loaded Texas Dogs and bag of fries were ready. The meal was flavorful, priced right and a bit messy (just how I like it). Next time I'm in town, I will stop again."
"This place is really special. Completely authentic 50's diner in every way! The food was perfect and the menu had comfort dishes galore! Almost every American style restaurant serves a burger, but somehow Pete and Reenies really distinguishes itself from the rest. Excellent atmosphere and service. Truly a local treasure!"
