Reviews of High Rocks Vista
"Great trail with multiple paths with amazing views."
"Great spot for a short to medium length hike. The blue trail is fairly flat. The yellow and orange go to further down but are a bit more intense. Great spot for a dog too although the is a warning for copperheads!"
"Upon entering the park I was admittedly nervous to see the warning signs about copperheads as I’m terrified of snakes. Our two dogs and son were with us so I was concerned more for them. I’m happy to report there were no snake encounters during our hike! There was ample parking in the small lot across the path from the actual trails however when we returned almost two hours later it was almost full. Lots of groups prepping to climb the cliffs. I recommend arriving early! We found our way to the cliffs first and the views were spectacular. If you are fearful of heights or are an inexperienced hiker you might not want to take the trail along the cliffs. Even though there is a metal fence up it is narrow and rocky. It was perfect for us and our Golden Retriever and Golden Doodle. Further into the hike the trail turns away from the cliffs a bit but the incredible beauty of this park is not limited to looking out over the gorge . We saw several hawks in the clearings on the upper trail heading back towards the lot. This is a slightly harder hike so if you are looking for a leisurely walk this is not the park for you. If you want moderately challenging trails without committing a whole day, this is perfect I look forward to returning in the fall! Funny story, when we returned home and took the dogs for a quick walk on our property, we came across a snake next to our driveway!"
"My son and I decided to do a quick hike while in the area, and we weren't disappointed. The trails were fairly well-maintained with decent blazing, though it is not intuitive how the upper and lower trails connect. The vistas are certainly better fall through early spring as once the forest leafs out, it would be a challenge to appreciate the height and ruggedness of the shale cliffs that occupy this area. We noted several memorials to fallen climbers. Apparently, the area is quite dangerous, and people do meet their end here rather frequently. Stay on the trails, and you'll be fine. Stray onto the cliffs, and you better have proper functioning climbing gear. The shale breaks easily, and you will slip at some point. There were a number of blooming forest flowers that were fun to identify."
"I really enjoyed this hike on a weekday. I came here rather early on a fall day due to limited parking. I would not come here in the dead of heat as there are a lot of animals like snakes that tend to stay in the area during the summer. There are not paved trails but there our other trails that you can explore, and you get a really good view once you hit the top of the entire range of forest. It was nice. You could see Hawks in the sky. You'll also get a wide variety of hills from steep to not I really enjoyed this hike on a weekday. There is an observation deck as well to take in the scene."
