"There is reason the price seems too good to be true! This salon fried my hair off. They use 50 VOLUME developer from SALLY BEAUTY SUPPLY. I've talked to many other hair dressers and they all agree using 50 volume developer is dangerous, even if its "open air balayage". My hair was under saran wrap after the bleach was applied and started to smoke after being left on for over 45 minutes. They made it look decent with a trim and a blowout, but after the first wash my hair felt like straw and then broke off to the point I had to cut 8 inches off. The Shadyside location (Can't speak for Aspinwall) is dirty and cramped. Anthony also gets easily upset and creates a bad vibe in the salon (if you'd call the shoebox in Shadyside a salon). Spend the extra money and see someone who uses actual professional products. I asked to see the Olaplex I was told was used in my bleach mixture and could see them scrambling to pull some old container out of an Ikea dresser drawer (one of few pieces of furniture/storage in the tiny space) and it was NOT added to my bleach despite Anthony and his assistant insisting it was. Their bleach and color are also both brands I'd never heard of. They said they were French brands, and imported. Google said otherwise. Again, there is a reason they get away with charging so little. If you've been there, you know why. All of the good reviews are just 'loyal' clients who are already blonde or grey and care about the cheap price of service. Save your hair and go somewhere else if you want blonde."
"Amazing cut for my hair (thick and fine with a loose curl)!"
"I first came to the Shadyside location about a year ago and was lured in by the $80 balayage special. Initial thoughts, very small and cramped with no seating for guests. Clients came in and were sitting on the steps because there were no chairs available to sit in! Fast forward, the first time Anthony did my hair... it looked very blonde and good but, extremely dry and over processed. Nevertheless, I guess worth the $80( I always tip all assistants, $20 a piece... even the ones that spent 5 min on my hair). I went back about 3-4 additional times and noticed his work seemed to get sloppier and sloppier. I noticed noticed more and more it was looking worse and for nearly $160, I expected better. The last time I went, I noticed it looked very dark and actually bad but, thought maybe it’s just me. Well, I realized it must have looked pretty bad when my mom, sister, fiancé said, “ where did you have your hair done last, it looks bad”. When I told them it was the same person, they couldn’t believe it! I texted the salon almost 3 weeks later and explained that it wasn’t light enough. The assistant immediately got very rude with me and said, it was very blonde when you left and why did you wait so long? I explained it wasn’t light at all and after numerous comments I wasn’t happy. I guess she assumed I wanted him to do a redo for free, like she said. I told her, I’ll pay again but, I want it blonde! Well, guess what? She blocked me!!! How unprofessional and rude! Not to mention, they took a video of me to use the first time I went to the salon and posted it all over Facebook without my consent!! They received plenty of views 67,000 and likes and then treat me like this!"
"My hair has never looked better!! Every other salon wanted 3 times what Anthony charges for balayage. I'll never go anywhere else!"
