"I tried New India Grill for the first time last night. The owners were incredibly kind. They took our takeout order toward the end of the night despite being close to closing, and greeted with a big smile when I arrived to pickup in the final minutes. I was so happy to realize that the food was just as amazing as the people. Truly - delicious, incredibly flavorful and so well cooked, clearly made with love. I live in the Northside and made the trip to try this place on the suggestion of a friend, and I’ve just found my new favorite spot. Have tried just about every Indian restaurant in and around the city and (while my opinion on this may not hold much weight) this is the best of the best. Looking forward to going back. We had the Chicken Tikka, Lamb Vindaloo, and garlic naan. Can’t recommend enough."
"I tried the New India Grill and I am so glad I did! The flavors were amazing. The butter chicken was closest to what you will find in Delhi. No strong spices and the, smokiness on par with legit butter chicken. The baingan bharta was great too, with a subtle smokiness from cooking the egg plants in a tandoor. The biryani was similarly flavorful. My only complaint is that they used chicken breast in everything and that felt a little dry. But I guess more people like white meat, than dark meat. Hopefully someday this will change. Highly recommend it folks! It’s one guy cooking and making the food he loves to cook. Do give it a try!"
"I only heard about this place about two months ago, and we have ordered probably six times. The owner is one of the nicest humans I’ve ever met and the food is incredible. Every single thing we have tried has been amazing. Highly highly recommend. Butter chicken spice level seven is my favorite!!!"
"Ordered here today and it was absolutely delicious! I truly appreciate small, local businesses like this adding some diversity to food options in an area full of drive thru windows and chains. Wait was supposed to be 25 mins, it was ready sooner than that. Very kind owner who helped my mom (she was trying Indian food for the first time). Can’t wait to return to try more of their dishes!"
"Excellent Indian takeout spot in Moneroville. There is a decent number of other options in the area (Mintt, Udipi, India Garden, etc) but I settled on New India Garden because of their enticing prices. I tried the channa masala, paneer kulcha, samosas, and gulab jamun. The channa masala (chickpea curry) is one of the best I've had in Pittsburgh (not #1, but probably top 3 or 4). It's got lots of flavor for a mildly spiced curry and there are plenty of chickpeas. Nice slight sweetness and lots of savory goodness. It is also not too oily. Whole chunks of tomatoes can be found throughout, which I appreciate. The dish is served with 8 oz of rice, and that's a decently big portion. The samosas were huge. There are two pieces and they are served with a green minty chutney and an amazing sweet red sauce. It tastes a bit like plum and pomegranate and seems to have real seeds or something along those lines in it. The samosas are well stuffed, adequately spiced, and are quite crispy. I've never had paneer kulcha, and I wasn't sure what to expect from it. At first, it seemed like a regular naan bread. But when you open it up, you see all the delicious Indian cheese stuffed inside. There's not a whole lot of it, but just enough to give it some unique flavor. There are also some greens served on top of the bread and inside it too (cilantro and green onions I think). Not too salty and once again excellent portion since you get 2 pieces in an order. Finally, they have some incredible gulab jamun. They gave me 2 huge pieces for just $3. That's an excellent deal, since I know some places charge $5-6 for the same amount. Fair amount of syrup too. Very, very good. All in all, I highly recommend this spot. The food is not only extremely affordable, but it's also delicious and served in great portions. It may be takeout only, but New India Grill can compete with (and even provide higher quality food than) much larger sit-down Indian places in Pittsburgh."
