"I visited in November 2023 for my birthday. This is probably the most expensive salon I’ve ever been to. For a wash, color, conditioner, and trim, I paid over $300! The final total was so high, the manager gave me a slight discount (I guess she realized that paying almost $400 was a bit much). Everything is a la cart. The style and service were good. Services are a bit too high for me. I won’t be returning."

"I love coming here when i don’t feel like blowing my hair out myself. Geegee is the best & the only one that touches my hair! The lady at the front desk tried to over charge me $30 for having longer & thicker hair! I also came detangle ( 4a-b hair ). On the site it says $75 for a wash and blow dry! it doesn’t says anything about a $30 fee for longer hair when i ask to speak with the owner she refused to call her ( i’ve been over charged before and refunded) That’s why i ask her to call the owner! She refused and was very unprofessional and ghetto! She insisted i just get it flatiron bc it’s the same price! it was raining and its my hair no one tells me what to do w it i won’t be coming back! EVER AGAIN"

"I booked a $95 silk press and ended up being charged $148. The lady at the front desk [very rude, short, unfriendly] says it's for the hydration treatment (that I didn't ask for), so I guess this is how it works now at salons. I'm reminded why I stopped patronizing salons altogether. SMH. Never again. Don't recommend."

"DONT GO IF YOU HAVE NATURAL HAIR — RELAXER CHEMICALS IN THE SHAMPOO!!. If I could give zero stars, I would. Very pricey for a simple wash, blow dry, trim, flat iron. My hair has been natural for 10+ years. I occasionally straighten so I can get a good trim. I used to go to a Dominican place in NJ that was great. So I tried Hair Company since I’m new to the area. They apparently added a chemical straightener without my knowledge or permission during my shampoo. Gave me a great trim and flat iron. No heat damage because my hair can take heat. But it has been shedding— falling out from the roots continuously for three weeks now. When I just washed it, my curl pattern is much looser and the shedding from the back of my head it really bad. That’s where the curl pattern is the tightest. I know my hair. It is long and VERY healthy because I care for it myself with only natural products. I feel betrayed and I regret EVER going to Hair Company USA. They couldn’t do my hair again for FREE. RESPONSE TO OWNER Regardless of your “verified “ status and “specialization” in natural hair care, you damaged my natural hair. The shedding has continued for 3 weeks and counting. My natural curls are gone. The person who did my blowout and flat iron complimented me on the healthy condition of my natural hair. But my hair is now falling out. I have NEVER experienced any such problems with my hair before coming to TheHairCompany USA Dominican Salon. There is nothing further YOU can do to help me. I will have to care for my hair to get it healthy again. I am so disappointed. This is why REAL natural hair women don’t go to salons. What you can do is refund the $118 I paid to have my hair ruined like this. March 2020 Update: My hair came out in several patches mostly in the crown and the back of my head. My curl pattern never returned because it is permanently damaged. My new growth, and broken off patches are approximately 4 inches now. The length of the rest of my hair is about 12 inches because I’m trimming it back. By summer I will do a big chop down to the new growth. This is no joke. In one afternoon The Hair Company USA Dominican Salon ruined my beautiful natural hair that I had been growing for a decade. We really have to stop giving our money to people who do not respect or care about us. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. The photos below are of my natural hair 7 years ago in 2013. It was just as long and thick when I went to TheHairCompanyUSA in August 2019. May 31, 2020 UPDATE: Today I have finally made my Big Chop to cut away the chemical damage caused by The Hair Company USA Dominican Salon in August 2019. So due to this terrible ordeal, I have gone from 20-22” down to 3” of hair now. I have NEVER had my hair this short. I started my natural hair journey in 2009 and now over a decade later, I have to start over from the beginning. I have never had any problems with my hair (natural or relaxed) in my life. I have always been blessed with beautiful hair. This experience has caused me emotional stress and I am still dealing with the aftermath. It’s just terrible that a salon can get away with this. I’m writing this extended review because I don’t want this to happen to anyone else. I really do feel violated and assaulted with no recourse."

"Overall, my hair looks fine. My hair is easily managed though. Everyone was nice, but when I went to pay the woman told me my bill was $152. That’s before I added a tip. 1 woman washed my hair & sat me under the hair steamer. Once it stopped steaming, she sectioned my hair into 4s and sat me under the dryer. After a while a stylist came & got me, blew my hair out, trimmed it, then flat ironed it. Overall my hair was average, but I won’t be returning. I have never spent that much on my blow out before today, but I certainly won’t do it again."
