Reviews of Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County
"I just spoke with Darlene regarding an issue on their system. I was told they have NOT updated their system since 1971!!!! SHAME ON YOU ALL! I would be embarrassed to tell customers that and then to act all "holy and proper" on the phone when I call you out. Do better for a county that is building a resident high rise down the street and paying the Amish. Where'd that money come from?! SHAME. ON. YOU. ALL."
"This is an incredibly greedy company that doesn't care about the people who need access to clean and safe water. Despite the fact that they knew years ago in the 90's that this was a drought vulnerable watershed, they still made a deal in 2008 to allow a fracking company to build on the watershed and allow them to siphon (and poison) over 900 million gallons of water a year, to never be treated or reused again. Their take away for this is at least 12.5% of the $$ for use of the natural gas reserves. Now they are asking their customers to conserve water because of a mostly artificially constructed drought. Also, keep in mind this isn't common practice, for watersheds to allow fracking and storage of wastewater on premises, especially when any system failure could be catastrophic to public health and the vulnerable 50,000+ customers who rely on their water."
"Patrick Norris is right on the money. This place is greedy. Who benefits from these wells? Whose pockets get lined with the profits? The county just approved a 32.5% property tax increase, citing negligence and rising costs for employee healthcare and pensions. Welcome to the real world, none of us working class have pensions anymore. Pennsylvania has seen a large amount of emigration to red states and I can see why. This state is so corrupt by the blue that even the red are making bad calls. To the guy that said he doesn't know what all the "b"ing is about, he's clearly never had a run-in with how ruthless this water authority is for no reason. Several reviews on here about main breaks and leaks the the company placed the bill on nearby homeowners, and I know someone personally that this happened to. I'm gonna switch to the natural springs on my property and tell this place to kick rocks."
"I have a duplex and I had a leak outside of the property. I capped the line temporarily on the one side and ran all the water through the other meter. MAWC shut off the valve at the street. They have continued to double the usage on the side that has absolutely no water running through it. I will be reporting this to the BBB. Straight up theft."
"Discusting ignorant company and people. Threatening to shut off water over $129. I have breast cancer and need hip replacement. I have surgery coming up soon. I asked if I could use medical excuse for now. They told me the only way that would work is if I had to mix my medicine with water. I don't have to so they told me water is NOT life sustaining for me. I was in shock. They are also untouchable. PUC cant even over ride it. It's sickening that they can get away with what ever they want. An there is not one thing I can do. Since when is water not life sustaining? Absolute unbelievable I have to deal with this on top of being sick. I hope these people feel good raking in the money while people suffer."
