"Popped in for a quick dinner since I was in the area, and I’d been meaning to try B&E for some time (the proximity to metro is super nice and definitely influenced my decision). My server was very friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. Decided to go for a classic burger and shake, and a cup of black coffee. The burger and coffee quality was good, not mind-blowing, about what I expected from a 24/7 diner chain, but that’s not a complaint - we need more no-frills diners in the DMV in my opinion! The milkshake quality was excellent - I’ll definitely be hitting the gym hard in the coming days to work it off!"
"This location was convenient to my company's HQ so I was excited to see a diner nearby. (I usually LOVE diners, too). BTW - I'm only rating the food and experience that I had, not what my lunch companions had. Of course, I also blame myself for not ordering what most diners are good at, namely breakfast stuff. But it was 1:30 in the afternoon...so I actually ordering their chili...which.... tasted like it came from a can.... and when I asked if they put cheese on top, the waiter said no, but they could do that. My chili arrived with what looked like a couple of slices of american cheese torn into squares and placed on the chili. That was not what I expected and I definitely did not expect to be charged an extra $2 for 2 measely slices of America processed cheeses. Given that I was with other people I didn't make a big scene about the extra $2 but if I were eating by myself you bet I would have! I hope the owner sees this, and make some changes because NO self respecting diner should offer chili without cheese on top of it or at least on the side. At least not in this area with a lot of cultured consumers. And, sour cream, too. So would I go back? Eehhh....maybe if somebody gave me a gift card as a present....or they were buying. BUT....if I did go back, it would be to have something off the breakfast menu even if I were there at two or three o'clock in the afternoon.....or 10 PM at night."
"Our hotel suggested this Diner. It is 24 hours and serves basic American food. The coffee is good! I ordered the hamburger steak with potato salad. It was like eating a home cooked meal. The service was excellent. My coffee never got cold because our server was great!"
"Delicious breakfast spot in Old Town Alexandria! We had really traditional diner staples and they did not disappoint. The over medium eggs were perfect and the bacon was nice a crispy. The grits were smooth and creamy and the pecan waffle was thick and full of nuts. And the wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive. It is a bright clean environment and conveniently located at the top of King Street, a block away from the King Street metro. We will be regulars here for weekend breakfast!"
"I’ve visited the US many times for work but I’ve never really sat down in a diner. You don’t see places like this in Australia. I’d read about them in novels and seen scenes on TV and movies. I was staying up the road and here for work, so on my last morning I wanted something substantial in my belly. I went for the signature country fried steak with brown gravy, hash brown, and eggs. I’ve never had coffee served in a mug which was so thick. It took a little getting used to. The meal and coffee were delicious. I loved it. It’s on a par with the fancy food you get from cafés in Australia. I feel full and I feel happy. The wait staff were very friendly and cheery. The food arrived quickly and it was hot and cooked well. I enjoyed myself. If I have to come to this area to work again, I’ll try to eat here again and try some of the other breakfast offerings."
