"Walked the trail in Jan. 2023 (on my way home from Ocean City), no bugs :-). It felt like walking on a carpet (consisting of pine needles and/or other tree leaves). No spectacular views though. It rained a couple of days earlier so I wore hiking shoes and it's a good choice as some small sections were in the water."

"Horrible trail in the summer, the bugs are awful. Massive insects will fly into you while you’re there, you’ll walk through countless spider webs. Would not recommend visiting during the warmer months."

"The forests here are somewhat unusual compared to central and western Maryland. Even in the last days of September, we were eaten alive by mosquitoes and that was with bug spray. Made it difficult to enjoy the trail, but it's wetlands, so it's to be expected."

"Beautiful location with a particularly wondrous quality. This place felt so still and yet lively at the same time. Branches would snap in the distance, whirlwinds rustled the leaves, and the stillness of it all would be broken by beautiful bird calls. Plenty of spiders so if that's not your thing, be warned! Still a great place to hike in my opinion though!"
