Independent Taco

"I tried the trio of tacos with an assortment of meats, salsas, and other toppings. All 3 tacos were completely flavorless. These were literally the worst tacos I’ve ever eaten. I could not finish them, even after putting hot sauce on them to add some flavor and depth. Which they lacked completely. I feel cheated out of $46 for 3 people and will never come back. Even the chips were flavorless and the salsa was an embarrassment to salsas everywhere. Not 1 chili pepper was harmed in the making of anything served in this restaurant. The staff looked annoyed and were not courteous. You’re better off dumpster diving at Taco Bell than wasting your money at this culinary abomination."

"I was pumped to try the food from the taco truck when it was local to me, but felt the food was over priced, quality was low, and flavor was lacking. I purchased 3 different menu items to try, the trio of beef tacos, queso Birria nachos, and the cilantro lime rice bowls with chicken. The best of the 3 were the tacos. The were simple (classic style) but not bad. Not worth $5 per taco. They had very little toppings so I didn’t feel like I got my bang for my buck. You can get a high flavor profile, higher quality taco from Condado tacos for the same price. You can also get a taco from the local Mexican restaurant for $3 and the taste and flavor is superior. I next tried the $12, mini rice bowl. The serving size was of something my 9 year old would eat, who doesn’t eat large portions. The classic toppings were sparse, the chicken looked and tasted like Perdue chicken from the bag (100% not fresh cooked), and the cilantro lime rice did not taste like cilantro or lime. The overall dish didn’t taste bad, but the quality was low, flavor was lacking and it should have cost no more than $6. The last item I tried were the $15 (maybe $16) queso Birria nachos..do not bother purchasing these - total waste of money and they were not great. Did I eat 1/3 of them, yes, but because I was hungry and I spent $46 on food that was not good and if there’s one thing I like less than bad food, it’s wasting money. There was no queso. What they placed on the tiny broken up pieces that should have been tortilla chips was gravy. I can guarantee by taste and look there was no cheese in this mixture. It was wet and the top layer of chips were soggy immediately open eating them after being handed my order that was “freshly made”. The Birria was dry and by no means Birria (marinated meat stew or soup). Again, little to no toppings on this and lots of tiny little broken chips. The staff was nice, the food was well packaged, and there was at least 7 different sauces to try. Those are the only positives I can share. I always put a lot of thought into my reviews and I highly dislike giving negative reviews, but at certain price points I expect quality food…especially when I’m ordering from somewhere that’s not a fast food establishment. This was not authentic, this was not enjoyable, and unlike most other situations I will not be trying the food here again."

"This place is incredibly delicious! The ingredients are fresh and there are so many great choices! I could eat here every day and not get tired of it. Portion sizes are generous as well - especially for the price. Highly recommend!"
