"Snack shack. Large trees provide shade from the sun if you want (I prefer shade for all day trips). Separate baby pool and play area that is under trees and shaded. Music playing. Volleyball nets. Bathrooms and changing area. 2 Diving boards. Ping-pong."
"Incompetent lifeguards… I’ve had to help countless of little kids from drowning in the 3 1/2ft to 5ft ends when there were perfectly capable lifeguards. I understand they have around 40 other kids to supervise at the same time on a busy day, but at the same time, what is that worth when they can’t even notice when a little kid underestimates the depth of the area in the pool ????? What is all that training for??? The lifeguards here seem perfectly content with taking the pH of water and looking at the seating areas instead of actively looking for children that are in need of help"
"I love the community atmosphere at NSSC. Everyone is so friendly and the swim and dive team coaches, members, and families make my children feel like all-stars even when they finish last. There a lot of social activities (float nights, water aerobics, trivia and movie nights, a chili cookoff, and the most family-friendly and best flamingo party by far), and one of the club members volunteers as our local DJ--he is fantastic! It's so nice to not have to cook two evenings in summer. Wednesdays the grill is fired up with hamburgers (usually $3) and hotdogs (usually $2) along with chicken, tacos, or brisket, depending on the night; Fridays we have a food truck come. The snack shack has health options and probably more selection than some larger neighborhood pools. My kids (now 9 and 12) practically live at the pool all summer long. It's great that the older teens and younger kids (even at 6 and 7) all play together--volleyball, foosball, jenga. It really builds a sense of a village. And it's been fun watching kids who were in elementary school when we joined now be lifeguards. The tween/teen swim team members teach the littles (3+) to swim through our Little Flippers Program, which is ridiculously inexpensive! Both of my kids are graduates of that program. There is a lot of shade during the day which is great for a break from the bright sun."
"Great community. Beautiful grounds with lots of peripheral shade. Baby Pool is mostly shade covered. Clean facilities and knowledgeable staff. In light of Covid, the club is running a carefully social distanced, reservation-based program. I feel comfortable bringing my young family here and staying safe."
"The pool has become our summer back patio. It's so much fun to come by for an hour, an afternoon or a day - to relax or spend time with the friendly folks from the neighborhood and to enable my children to make lasting memories. There are so many social events to choose from in so many different interest areas. The swim team is fantastic. They have really formed my daughter into an excellent swimmer and my son is excited to do his first year this summer. I love that practices are both in the morning as and the evenings to meet the needs of working families. The Little Flippers program to teach children to swim has to be the best deal in the area. The classes have an incredibly low child to adult/teen ratio and the frequency and ability to practice at the pool ensures success. We haven't done tennis or dive yet, but I look forward to my children taking advantage of both in the coming summers."
