"I would give this company 0 starts if possible. We should have been suspicious from the start when he came with over-sized polaroids in his "portfolio" of pools. Gave him an 8k deposit because I thought he could do the job faster than the larger companies. We gave him plot plans we had paid for on our own, which he said would be fine. He ended up paying an engineer 2500 of our deposit to draw up new plot plans (though the engineering plan we received incorporated the ones we had provided him). Texted and called numerous times to check on the progress of things and on the rare occasion we got a response either he or his wife were so rude it was almost comical. After more months of excuses and delay and unresponsiveness, Joe’s wife said they would take their name off the permit and give us back what was owed on the deposit presumably because we had the audacity to challenge their repeated delays. So we had to start over, their name taken off the permit and we hired Sylvan (who was on the ball right away). I've been repeatedly asking for what we are owed from our deposit back and its been complete radio silence. Subtracting the fees for the permit and some other things the engineer did they still owe us thousands of dollars. Weeks after being told they would not do the pool and would give us back our deposit, I reached out and asked when he would respond to my request for the money that was owed to us in black and white. In typical Joe fashion, he wrote “”when I am ready to”. Nothing else from him. The rudeness, lack of responsiveness and what in my opinion amounts to theft is something I have never encountered from any company or service industry in my life. Stay far away from these people. NOTE- i checked back a few days after writing this review and got a kick out of the fact that he’s apparently scrambled some people together to write him positive reviews. One of them mentions how great Joe Sr was decades ago building his pool. Well, yeah good for you.... I got Joe Jr. DONT BE FOOLED"
"My pool was designed and built by the Rigous family (father & sons) over 30 years ago. Joe Rigous (son), the owner of Rigous Pool Builders & Services, resurfaced that pool about 8 years ago and did a fabulous job. He has been opening and closing our pool since it was built and provides weekly pool cleaning and water checks. Joe has replaced our pool heater(s) and spa motor when needed in addition to the pool lights. He and his wife are responsive, timely, and fabulous to deal with for everything. He has come out at night to fix pool heater and knew we were having a pool party the next day. Did I mention that they are honest and cheaper than the "big box" pool builders in the long run? These people are service oriented. I have NEVER had a complaint from anyone I referred to Joe for a pool installation or service. It is wonderful to deal with a family business."
"My pool was built more than 29 years ago by Joe Rigous, Sr.and his three sons. It was a fantastic black (marble dust) concrete pool with a brick deck. I was so proud of it. About 10 years ago it needed to be replastered and I had Joe,Jr. Do the job...that's when my problems started...the plaster was ok but the tiles have been falling off annually (I just paid $800.00 to have 30 lf of tile replaced) and the tiles ooze out a white lime substance which looks like vomit against the black plaster. I clean the tiles and the plaster every year and every year the vomit returns and more tiles fall off. I have a case of pumice stones and muriatic acid for my annual clean up as well as a net to retrieve the fallen tiles. When I contacted Joe his first response without asking any questions was that the problem was due to "homeowner neglect". (Aka I never do anything wrong) I even sent pictures! I have a spa which has the same plaster and tiles as my pool but was tiled by someone who knew what he was doing. There are no problems at all! So be careful choosing you contractor!!"
