Reviews
"Unfortunately I have to agree with the ones that made the call for an appointment. Doesn’t matter what what number you push there is no transfer. I’ll have to go in person, hopefully I can solve my need of a power of attorney.I wished was easier."
"I wrote an email to the Romanian consulat at Washington DC on September 16 2022 asking that they look for a US citizenship certificate in my name that was sent by the United States Customs and Immigration Service to the consulate in January 2022. I cannot get a confirmation that they have received the e-mail or that they are searching for the document. I called and wrote to to the contact number in Romania. They told me to call the consulate. Calling the consulate it takes me through the whole menu and cannot get a hold of anybody to ask for help for my particular problem. The consular service is non existent. Pathetic. "E-Visa portal doesn't work. Every time I try to set up an account it keeps showing "an unexpected error has occurred". Called the 4 phone numbers for the consulate in Washington, got the same automated message to go to the E-Visa portal (that still doesn't work) for appointments and visa information. Finally called the emergency phone number listed, and much to my surprise someone answered the phone. Was completely rude, barely gave me the time to explain what the situation was, said it was my problem not hers. End of phone call. Thanks a lot."
"They have new staff working at the Washington consulate, and I was very impressed with the friendliness and courteous attitude of the all their new clerks. The lady who helped me was kind enough to answer all my questions with a smile on her face, and she processed my documents quickly and with no problems. I was out of there in 15 or 20 minutes. Initially I was dreading the thought of having to go to the consulate, due to past experience of encountering not-so-friendly clerks a few years back. What a pleasant surprise to encounter these jolly new friendly faces!"
"My experience with the Chancery staff last week was very positive. In fact, I've been at the Chancery once a year for the past three years and always got the work done. This time, I was even more pleasantly surprised to see that the three ladies working there were really trying to make our experience a pleasant one. It's not their fault I have to travel from Texas to get some Power of Attorneys signed there. Or that I drove from Boston past New York (where there is a Romanian Chancery which could have done this work) to Washington and then back to New York where I wanted to spend some time because my state is assigned to the office in Washington. Those are things they cannot control and it didn't make sense to vent my frustration to them. My review is about their attitude towards me, my wife, my mother in law and kid - we traveled together. And also how they were handling the other customers while we were waiting for our paperwork to be done. Anyway - Its enough to say they worked on our paperwork until almost 6PM despite the office closing at 4PM. We had 5 Power of Attorneys that had to be done and they knew we could only be there for one day. So everyone, including the Consul stayed late to get our paperwork done. I never heard them complaining once and they were still smiling when finished. Just like everything - you get what you project - I'm always trying to be nice to people around me and they responded in the same way. Octavian H."
