"I came in looking for a second opinion on another tooth with a cavity I was told needed a crown. Instead she targeted a tooth she claimed had a deep filling that if I didn’t get a crown on would need a root canal soon. This tooth had no pain and no cavity. I paid over $600 with good insurance for the so called preventative work. I immediately had pain which thankfully changed to just being with eating/pressure but the pain is severe. When the permanent crown was put on she did not check to see if my retainer fit despite me bringing it in from the start. I had to come back quickly because I could not floss and needed the tray fixed. She simply remolded it a bit which means I need to additionally pay for a new retainer for next time I need one. I still had bad pain over a week later. I didn’t trust her to evaluate it because when I mentioned the pain to her she told me she suspected something wrong with my tooth next to it (again no pain/no cavity). Apparently she wanted to fill my whole mouth with crowns. Additionally she asked me how I felt about plastic surgery and then proceeded to tell me she had a patient come in unrecognizable from it. Very unprofessional. The entire time talking about what a great dentist she was too which was suspicious. Dr Longman told me I have rebound pain which is the sign of a cracked tooth. He asked me why I was afraid of a root canal when I tried explaining that I was upset I came in with no issues and now needed one immediately. He tried charging me for the privilege of diagnosing the pain she caused. The endodontist he referred me to told me this work should have never been done. The filling was not even deep, there was room for more filling. Additionally, my nerves are quite high in the tooth so it was inevitable she would cause pain. He also called her to get more of the story about what happened and she lied and said that I came into the office with pain. I haven’t had the root canal yet but I pray that’s all I need at this point. I have seen many dentists and never had an issue before. I wish I had never come to this office. Avoid if you care about your teeth."
"Dr. Phan has exceeded my expectations for dental care. She spends time explaining what is going on when I had a tooth issue, and discussed with me the best options to proceed and provides levity. I saw the other reviewers comments and maybe they are not receptive to being told by someone how to actually take care of your teeth. I'm a male, I need plain and simple and matter of fact and when I ask her a question, Dr. Phan tells me her professional opinion. I also appreciate that she is not like other dentists that just get you in the chair, say "yep, looks good" and then head to the next patient. I highly recommend her."
"Yes, I believed another reviewer Ling Yang's suspect and/or been treated differently by Dr. Anh-Minh Phan. I was hugely shocked, after recently researched Dr. Longman(2022-2023), that he still practices, and Dr. Phan's Brightly Smile picture showed up on internet from their office! Here is a long historical story in short: decades ago, in mid of 90s, I visited Dr. Longman's dental office after ended another visit with an internal doctor Dr. Chen in the same building, after moved to this DMV area. Since then, I decided to visit these two Drs in my planned regular health check-up in a long run. I deeply remembered how kind and cordially Dr. Longman treated me, asked some questions surrounded my far-away hometown while cleaned my teeth. And evaluated my teeth then suggested me do a deep cleaning, with the bill only shy of maybe less $200! (Seemed insurance doesn't cover that time? I still keep that estimate till this day!). I didn't pay too much attention of it, and didn't do any researches on it (maybe in the era of inconvenience of non-use of internet?), so not do it immediately. But continued to visit Dr. Longman's office, however this last visit turned to be a very unpleasant experience, made me say a forever good-bye. When I waited in the dental chair, a woman doctor walked in, with a very harsh and severe expression hanging on her face. From the beginning to the end of teeth exam and cleaning, I just felt so so uncomfortable. Did she really not like or favor her own races, or the same gender? Or deeply disliked her own "chosen patients"? It confused me in decades. I thought Dr. Longman was retired, and his office might have been turned over to this new woman doctor. Like the Dr. Chen did who retired then sold his one to Dr. Ho. Therefore, I said GOOD BYE to myself, and to Dr. Longman's office here: sadly, I won't have any good dentist I could visit anymore! After that, I visited quite a bit of other dental offices, none of them could compare to the Dr. Longman's great personal services. In the end, I spent a few thousands cashes to do deep cleaning in other office decade later, and lost a few teeth, and even like this prior, I felt I never wanted going back to this woman dentist again, who " replaced "Dr. Longman! Sadly, Dr. Longman, like Dr. Chen, was in my past memory seemed forever...! Bc I won't have such a good dentist and internist any more. However to my shock, I discovered Dr. Phan, her BIG SMILING picture now in this modern internet era lately, after decades. And she COULD smile and seemed to be more RELAXED rather HARSH to her patients or her CHOSEN patients!? Another shock, Dr. Longman still practices!? Or my God, if I knew, I would demand Dr. Longman treated me rather others, and I would continue seeing him, then I won't lost thousands $s, and I would have my full mouth of teeth! Above story will be in my collection of short stories. More to come including the great Dr. Chen and others which would be unspeakable but only could exist in short stories."
"I went to the office last November with the purpose of filling cavities (for orthodontic braces) but ended up getting teeth cleaning and big quotes for five different teeth issues (including a crown for 2000$). The teeth cleaning service was scary as the staff keeps poking the tube inside of my mouth without care, and Dr. Anh-Minh flossed my teeth as if my gum was made out of metal, the process hurt a lot. The X-ray process was also horrible as they told me to bite on pieces that were still in sharp plastic packages (may because they want to reuse these pieces?--not sure what those pieces were called). I developed a couple of canker sores after the visit. Anyways, Dr. Anh-Minh was more like a salesperson than a dentist to me. She kept telling me (while she was cleaning my teeth) what extra I need to do to my teeth and telling me that (when I ask for quotes for braces) there is no need to shop around for braces because dental service is gonna be as expensive anywhere (which turns out to be not true, as their quotes were significantly higher than what my current dentist provides). I am quite suspicious of all the good reviews,,, unless I was treated differently?"
