"My children have been going to Chesapeake Pediatric Dental Group for about 16 years and we have always had an amazing experience from beginning to end. Today was a very different experience. My daughter is extremely scared/nervous of the dentist after having a procedure done. I made it known to the hygienist who did not even acknowledge I spoke to her. My daughter was in the chair telling me she was scared. I tried to reassure her it would be fine and what was going to happen during the cleaning (any other visit the hygienist have been amazing and helped reassure her, showed her tools, talked to her) the hygienist today did not say anything other then "go ahead and lay back". There was zero effort to talk to my child, reassure her or help build any type of relationship to make her feel comfortable. I ended up telling her that we just wouldn't do the cleaning today. Her response was "ok" as she got up then to leave the room. After she left my daughter sat in the chair crying saying she wanted her teeth cleaned but was just so scared. Heartbreaking to say the least. A little compassion and some sort of bedside manner go a long way, especially when working with children. This hygienist may be good at her actual job, but maybe a Pediatric office isn't the best for for her. The dentist then came in, we have never met her before, but she was wonderful. My daughter again was extremely nervous when sitting in the chair, but after the dentist talked to her even for a second and showed her the mirror she sat back and allowed her to look at her teeth and put the Fluoride on. This experience truly made me sad as we have ALWAYS had wonderful experiences with this office and the perry hall office with all 4 of my children."
