Star Theatre

Located at 23 West Seminary Street in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, the Star Theatre is a historic institution with a rich history dating back to 1911. Originally opened in 1912, the theatre has been a staple in the community, hosting live productions, silent movies, and matinees over the years.

One notable visitor to the theatre was Academy Award winner Jimmy Stewart, who frequented the establishment as a teenager while attending the Mercersburg Academy in the 1920s. The theatre experienced a fire in the 1930s, leading to a massive renovation that included the addition of Art Deco light fixtures and Flocked wallpaper.

In the late 1970s, the theatre operated as a movie house, and in 2000 it became the home of the Pennsylvania Opry for several years. Today, Star Theatre Productions LLC owns and operates this historic venue, bringing family-friendly entertainment to the Mercersburg community once again.
