"I've been to a LOT of other gyms in the DMV and loved this gym so much when I first started coming here. It's spacious, spread out and has lots of equipment. However I'm at the point where I absolutely cannot stand coming here anymore! Not necessarily because of how busy it always is in the evenings - that's to be expected - but there are ALWAYS fitness influencers or competitors interrupting my workouts to take pics, especially in the yoga room. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I'm using this room after the classes are over for YOGA, shouldn't I be allowed to do so in peace?? There are SO many other rooms and mirrors in this gym, but they all seem to come here! I've made several complaints to management, but tonight a trainer came in and abruptly turned all the lights on to work with a client training for some comp? As in just standing around posing...Obviously I can't argue with a trainer as he clearly has authority here, but I come to the gym for my mental health, and my yoga session in the dark studio is something I look forward to every time I come and desperately need. I'm just over this gym and wondering if I'm going to get to work out and do yoga in peace every time I come!!"
"I’ve been to this gym for many years and been part of Sports & Health club for over a decade, now. I’ll explain why I mentioned Sports & Health in this review later on, but this gym has its pros and cons. I’ve been to many gyms in my lifetime and can’t say this is the best or the worst. If you’re not ok with crowded gym this place is not for you! If you’re not patient this place is not for you because you will have to wait for equipment to be freed up. If you want interactive engaging staff this place is not for you. 3 stars for 3 reason 1. The equipment isn’t the best in my opinion but it gets the job done. Majority of their equipments are produced by lifefitness and they seem durable/well made. Equipments are bound to break or require service and when they do, it gets fixed fairly quickly from my experience. 2. The lighting here is pretty good and helps with motivation. The ambiance is nice, quite motivating, encouraging and modern. 3. The amenities that they have is pretty awesome for what I pay such as salted pool, jacuzzi, sauna and much more. A lot of wipes to clean off equipment is also provided. Minus 2 stars because for a few reasons: 1. The men’s locker room is not always well kept especially the toilets. Dirty toilets, toilet papers on the floors and it’s smelly throughout the entire locker room. The paper towel dispenser seems to always be broken and low on paper. The sauna seems to never be power washed and smells bad like urine. The gym itself is fairly clean but you will see straps, article of clothing in the same spot for weeks so that just tells me they don’t really have anyone going around inspecting the place/cleaning. Weights are not always where they’re suppose to be. 2. The gym is super crowded during peak times and peak times can range from 2pm to 8pm. If you’re not ok with waiting for gym equipment then this gym is not for you. I don’t mind waiting because I’ll find something to do but I can see how other folks would hate it. Losing motivation and pump will happen on some days. You will find people on their phone or just simply spending too much time on equipments. Sometimes they will close off the entire turf and reserve it for members that are being trained. This sucks because the gym is already packed and closing off the turf can limits equipments that can possibly be used. I notice when they close it off certain equipment is not being used at all and we pay for the gym to use the entire gym and the equipment. 3. They broke down half of the basketball court to expand the gym. I’m sure a lot of people joined just for the basketball and now it’s half court! So much people waiting just to play basketball on the sideline now that it’s half the size and just half court. It’s super busy because the Gaithersburg/lakeforest Sports&Health closed down and they sent all their existing members to onelife fitness Rockville and the onelife in Germantown. Onelife bought out Sports&Health back in 2014 and rebrand to Onelife fitness."
"The good points: the gym is well equipped, the staff is pleasant, there is a variety of classes to choose from. The instructors in the Namaste studio are exceptional, great technique and dedicated teachers. The bad points for this gym boil down to a policy of quantity over quality. The changing rooms have many spacious showers, but broken parts stay that way for months. There is a variety of classes, but the main ones (in the Main Studio) are rushed. Most are 'express' (shorter versions of classes designed for 1h) and many start late. It takes time to wrap up a previous class with 60-70 people using a variety of equipment, so a 30min class will easily start 10min late. Instructors have no time to teach: they simply show and hope you pick it up, newcomers get no attention, zero time for warming up or stretching at the end. Exercising one side of the body but sometimes no time for the other, floor exercises avoided or shortened to buy time. People in classes lifting weights incorrectly, they cannot see their posture in the mirror and are not given any advice. The Main studio only has 2 walls with mirrors, part covered with equipment (there is space for it elsewhere but putting it in front of the mirrors buys time, and we are rushing after all). It is very difficult to find a parking space in the afternoons - the most popular times to attend - largely because the gym encourages crowds with the express back-to-back classes that accept any number of people. I believe revising the schedule to make it longer would provide a much better experience for everyone. I feel this gym has the equipment and staff to do much better."
"I love the variety of classes, amazing instructors and machines at the gym but their strict policy on bringing guests in is making me drop a few stars. My friends have brought me into classes at Golds Gym, LA Fitness and Lifetime with no hassle and payment. I just wanted to return the favor but we had to pay, makes it seem like they just want the money. If they want more members then maybe they could be a little nicer or have 1-2 days a month for guests to come in without hassle."
"The place was nice and clean. But unfortunately I was lied to, when I signed up I told them we might move in few months they assured me that’s not a problem just let them know and I can cancel if I provide the documents shows that I moved, When I actually moved they made me pay 2 months membership fee as a penalty because the person helped me sign up failed to tell me that if I am moving less than 25 miles I am responsible for early termination fee, even when I was told by them they will approve the termination still charged me 2 months fees. that was disappointing."
