"Food was good in general’ I guess we came with higher expectations! The Sukiyaki was way too sweet! Hamachi appetizers and the sushi and Wagyu were great!"
"I have now been to Sushi Taro twice and both times were fantastic experiences! This restaurant is home to the best sushi I’ve ever had. The service is also fantastic. I would very highly recommend dining here."
"The 2/3 different types of sushi we had were good. There aren’t too many options in the rolls but the quality of fish was good. We ate at the happy hour so the prices seemed okay. It’s on the pricier side."
"It has a cozy vibe suitable all occasions. The Resy website doesn’t accept reservation for one person, but you can reserve for two and add a note that it’s for one person (this is the official method the restaurant told me and it worked). They have my favorite healthy Okinawa food Goya Champuru in the menu. It was unfortunately sold out when I was there but gotta try it next time. Alternatively, I went for yaki-nasu shishito for my veggie appetizer. The eggplant was very tender and well-cooked so there was no “raw veggie” texture at all, and shishito added perfect crunchiness in mouth. I totally recommend it to everyone, including people who are usually not fans of eggplants. Imperial Wagyu sushi came with 3 pieces of Wagyu beef nigiri with Uni on top. Unlike regular Wagyu sushi, it was topped with fried garlic and kale and both Uni and Wagyu were seared. It made the nigiri very flavorful. I recommend tasting Uni and Wagyu separately for at least one piece to appreciate the building blocks of this rich tower of flavors. Buta Kara Shabu Shabu was a small pot that had a spicy broth in it and the pork and noodle to put in. After dipping for a minute, the pork catches a beginner-friendly level of spiciness from the pot, so if you are a fan of spicy food, make sure to scoop some broth into your bowl too. The noodle goes last and absorbs umami that was left in the pot. The portion is about a quarter of what the standard full shabu shabu meal offers, but it’s a fantastic addition to the table with other items. The price is rather on the higher side, but it’s not too expensive for authentic Japanese food."
"I have to say this is the most disappointed I've been in awhile. I went here for my anniversary, nothing special like at other fine dining places. The service was bad for a place that used to have a michelin star. No explanation of the menu, no explanation of what each fish was, did not answer my questions about the menu. Then, there were plenty of tables open but we were put at the one sandwiched between the kitchen door and the hostess stand. The food itself was disgusting. Tempura was maybe 5 pieces, yet it was cold and limp. The croquettes were fine, but not any better than what I could get at a diner. Finally, the nigiri tasted like some pieces were literally rancid. The desserts were also nothing special, and bordered on being gross. The ice cream was melted by the time it arrived. It cost over 100 dollars for each person. For a similar price, much better food and service, I recommend going anywhere else."
