"I employed Mercedes L. Beery in September 2020 when she was working for Josephia Law and had her work for me up until February 2023. It was then that she informed me that her law firm was closing and that she would not be continuing her cases. During this time, she accomplished nothing and switched law firms without giving me any notice, leaving me to track her down. She took me on probono after claiming she used my retainer fee up, but the file I received after she quit held nothing and the electronic version of the file even had forms and documents for other cases she was working on, of which included things like SSN and residential address. In short, my life would be better if I never hired Mercedes L. Beery as my attorney. I was gaslit into thinking my attorney was doing things for me. I do not understand anything about legal jargon, which is why I hired what I thought was a good attorney. She refunded my retainer fee, but I cannot be refunded the 2 and a half years that I sat, suffering because my case was consuming everything around me to the point I was terrified I would be going to jail because I was being "postponed" or "put on the pending docket" (all of which there were 0 paper trails for). What she needed to do was serve someone, and in 2 and a half years, she never even tried. I lost my license over the length in time it was taking, and she told me to go ask for it back, even after she herself was told no (again, 0 paper trail of her filing for anything with the MVA). Mercedes L. Beery is a horrible attorney. She will not answer you. She will tell you about her personal life instead of your case. She will tell you more about other cases she's worked on to mitigate how little she's done for your own and say things like, "It's like that for everyone. I got a guy who _____." She will blatantly lie about you. She will make big mistakes and say, "Whoops, my bad." DO NOT HIRE MERCEDES L. BEERY!!!"
