Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain

"I would give recreation management corp, the company that runs Ski Big Bear and Costas, a 0 stars if I could, but honestly, they don’t deserve a zero star. The only reason they’re still in business is because there is nothing else around for Masthope and Fawn Lake. The lady that manages both could use training in hospitality. She talks down to customers with disdain and arrogance. They make everything as difficult as possible, yet expect you to act privileged, despite paying $350 per person for lift tickets. Yesterday morning I tried to purchase private lessons for my three children. Of course you can’t book them online. I called and spoke to Kelly. She said come in there were plenty of spots available at 11:00. And of course, I couldn’t book them over the phone. I showed up a few minutes later and the woman at the window said 11:00 was full, but she would see if she could get my kids in. She was able to get my kids in. Then yesterday afternoon, I wanted to book lessons again. I went to the window and they said I couldn’t book them at the window for tomorrow. I’d need to call later. Then I called later and of course no one answered. Again I called this morning and spoke with Kelly and again she said no problem for 11:00. But low and behold, I arrive and 11:00 is booked solid. Do not go out of your way to Ski Big Bear, there are so many better options in the Poconos. And as I’m writing this, I see this sign, which I find incredibly ironic."

"I wanted to like this place but it's just too small of a mountain for me. Just a couple of trails and not enough black diamonds and terrain parks. So if you are an expert or advanced rider, this place is not for you. But it's well maintained, nicely groomed and staffed. One of a few resorts in Pocono that still gets fresh powder in March."

"Lovely lodge, great staff, fun atmosphere for all. The equipment rental was a little confusing at first. I would have appreciated a little more hands-on assistance to get into equipment comfortably. Will definitely be back."

"Ski Big Bear has had an incredible impact on our family AND if you are looking for some Winter fun - Then this is the place! If you have kids and want them to learn to ski/snowboard - I HIGHLY recommend Ski Big Bear -it is a beautiful facility and teaching kids to ski or snowboard is their specialty. The facilities, owners and staff at Ski Big Bear are truly amazing. It is so family friendly. The lodge is beautiful. There is a cafeteria style option plus a sit down restaurant. They have great entertainment in the restaurant too. If you are planning on staying in the Lodge - it is a very comfortable, nice spot to hang out for the day. If you are in the Pocono Mountains, a visit to Ski Big Bear is a MUST!"
