Reviews of Lupo Marino
"Oh man - I wanted this place to be good. Got the octopus and arancini. Both were just barely of lukewarm. The octopus was good but the peppers, pancetta, and beans underneath were very cold. Just made for a weird dish in my mind. Then the arancini was inedible. Just warm, taste was off, cheese wasn’t throughout - just like a small square that was the only thing melted. Those plus a drink were $62. I wish I’d read the other reviews first since I was only in D.C. for a short time. I would’ve dropped that kind of money elsewhere. Service was fast and waiter was very kind."
"We had an absolutely lovely dinner at Lupo Marino. Every food bite was absolutely delicious. Fantastic seafood, pasta, and pizza in a lovely atmosphere. If you haven’t been to The Wharf area in DC, this revitalized area along the river offers many great dining options…..and I suggest checking out Lupo Marino for sure."
"As a DC local, Lupo is our go-to date night spot. We have brought countless friends for lunch or dinner. We discovered our favorite red wine here. The food is authentic, flavorful, and the menu changes to keep in-season dishes in the rotation. The service has always been great. I highly recommend Lupo Marino!"
"I recently dined at this restaurant, and while the food was undeniably fresh and delicious, I couldn't help but be disappointed by a few aspects of the experience. The portion sizes left much to be desired; they were on the smaller side, which left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. The pricing was a concern as well, especially given the lack of any scenic outdoor view. To make matters worse, the doors were kept open, and the interior was uncomfortably warm. The place is quite small and little bit congested. I found it hard to justify the premium prices in such an environment. What caught me off guard was the unexpected 3% restaurant fee, which I believe should have been made clear upfront. To add to this, the server brought the bill with a tab for the tip starting at a minimum of 20%, and they stand literally next to you seeing what you are selecting which I felt a bit pushy. To make matters more confusing, I later discovered that the tip charges were calculated post-tax, not pre-tax, which left me feeling a bit misled. In summary, while the food quality was excellent, the overall dining experience left a lot to be desired due to the pricing, fees, and service approach. I may not visit it again and would want to explore other reasonable restaurants in the area."
"Pleasant place to have lunch, close to the water. There was not much fish on the menu, it was mostly Italian. You don't have to wait long for your food. The portions were large and tasted good. We found the staff pushy when paying. Otherwise ok service. I would recommend it if you like to eat Italian."
