"My 4 year old had a great time here. His favorite was feeding the fishes and watching the train. My wife and I loved it as well. It's also a beautiful place to take pictures. Highly recommend visiting at least once."
"Awesome, awesome place. So much to see. Montessori/natural vibe-type play area inside and out and tons of cool animal displays for the kids to see. Would definitely come again. Only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the staff weren't particularly friendly, but it wasn't a big deal."
"Kids loved it here! The indoor play area didn’t have too many activities for the older kids (3+) but the baby section was super cute and on theme. The exhibits were nice and we even saw a room that had bees you can see through the glass. The outdoor space was amazing too, there is a mud kitchen, swings hanging from trees and a little music spot. My kids also enjoyed the woods. building blocks. Overall a great experience."
"Another Howard County gem! I just renewed my annual membership (thanks for senior rate); or you can pay small one-time admission fee for your visit. Staff members are friendly and enthusiastic. Besides birds, I've been looking for butterflies here for our county survey, run by members of the Howard County Bird Club. Wildflower gardens around the main building are amazing and attract a lot of butterflies and other pollinators. I was excited to find a great spangled fritillary yesterday. Trails in the woods with views of the river are wonderful -- constantly singing in summer are wood thrush, wood-pewee, towhee...."
"This is a great nature center. They have 2 floors of exhibits of both nature and history in the area. My favorite part was about the nocturnal animals. It has a playroom for kids and a quiet room if needed. The staff were all helpful and friendly. They also have gardens of native plants and great trails. I also got to see mill ruins on the property. They are not part of the American horticultural society but the cost is only $5."
