"We booked the entire Captain Storm House and six rooms in the Candlelight for a bachelorette weekend. Each lady had their own room and bathroom for a reasonable price. Having the entire storm house allowed us to provide meals. We made full use of the full kitchen, dining room, parlors and patio. The antique furnishings were grand, photos/artwork inspired conversation, and the air conditioners in each room were appreciated. The location was perfect for our itinerary of a trail ride, wineries, going out in Bemus Point, and a hike at Panama Rocks. We were able to order food at the Tops next door and Westfield’s close proximity to Buffalo allowed some ladies to just join for the day. As with any house that is over 125 years old, lots of TLC is required. While talking to the owners, I realized they are working hard to keep up with both properties. They were wonderful to work with while planning the event and provided a lot of information about the area. The minor cosmetic imperfections of the houses did not deter from our stay. Although each room had an air conditioner with a “fan option”, having easier access to blinds/opening windows would have also been nice, as well as some updated bedding on the comfortable beds. We were lucky to discover The Candlelight & Captain Storm House and look forward to a return visit. Thank you Wilma & Ed!"
"Best ever for charm, location, and customer service. We were the only family staying this weekend and we had the whole place to ourselves. Wilma was very inviting. She provided all the information we needed to enjoy our stay. We talked for almost an hour and she didn't stop answering any of my questions. For the price, there is not a better place in town. Wilma even upgraded our room to accommodate my pregnant daughter. She was awesome and I will be back."
"Wilma and her husband are very kind people and the lodge is a great place to stay while visiting the area. Clean rooms comfortable beds fast wifi. The rooms are decorated nicely and unfortunately I had to cut my stay short this time but they were right there to help me if there was anything they could do when I had car issues. Very honest and caring people that make you feel at home. So much better than a hotel. I would recommend staying here if you are in the area. Located in the heart of Westfield makes getting to places on foot very convenient so you can truly soak up the small town atmosphere. Thank you very much"
"Staying here was perfect for what my husband and I needed for his birthday weekend. Took a tour of wineries and went to the Crossroads Market. I made a reservation at Brazills on Main Street...the food and service was amazing. Shared a lovely bottle of wine on the patio afterwards. We were looking forward to a relaxing weekend and the Candlelight Lodge certainly fit the bill. We loved it. Wilma was very gracious and accommodating. We enjoyed chatting with her. I opted for the Oak Room which was upstairs and that was fine for us.The room was clean and comfortable and I enjoyed the layout of the house. There were other guests at the lodge but we never saw them. My husband and I are early risers and we were able to have a relaxing time drinking coffee out on the lovely wrought-iron patio in the morning. No breakfast on the premises was not a big deal we had a delicious breakfast at Jack's in Barcelona and walked along the beach afterwards looking for beach glass.I don't care about what other reviews say we had an enjoyable time, it was perfect for what we needed and we will definitely be back to stay."
"My husband and I have stayed here several times. The owners are very nice. I love antiques so these rooms are a treat for me. One thing to appreciate about antiques is that they are not "new, out of the box" like today's furniture. They have wear & tear which is part of their story and charm. They also are made of far better materials than today's furniture, such as solid wood and real marble. The rooms are comfortable; all are suites. Some of the mattresses are better than others, but if I have a problem, my husband and I manage to make to make it work or we ask for a change in our room. This was once a large, grand, single family home with servants' quarters which has been broken up into several bedroom suites to make it a B&B. The layout can be a little quirky wherever this happens. One needs to expect that and go with the flow. If these sorts of conditions are not your "thing" then please stay at a chain motel/hotel which has standard furnishings, etc., where you know what to expect, and skip the B&B's."
