Reviews of Marble Mansion Inn
"We slept here first night of my extended birthday weekend…earliest spring is around the corner and most of the snow on the lowlands has melted. Quite a place and the owner is gracious. Tasty breakfast to boot"
"I stayed at this lovely Inn the weekend of October 13th-15th 2023. My daughter moved to Rutland and my 10yr old neice and I were coming up to visit. Being peak leaf peeping season I was having a hard time finding a place to stay that was reasonably priced. In my search this place came up. I'm so delighted that it did. It is a beautiful historic Mansion that they are lovingly bringing back to its grand self. I stayed in the Jane Austen room and it was beautifully decorated and the bed was Devine. Great night sleep. The only reason I gave the room a 4 star is because I am extremely sensitive to smells and when we arrived the room had a very strong odor. Not a bad odor, just strong, almost perfume like. I opened the window a bit for a little while and it aired right out. It was a 4hr drive for us and we hit some traffic and had to check in a little past 9pm. One of the Inn keepers greated us and had us sign up for breakfast. Very pleasant. I brought a ridiculously heavy suitcase that the Inn keeper helped me with when we were leaving. I'd advise smaller luggage as there are no elevators. Breakfast was fantastic and our waitress was very attentive. As a Tea drinker I especially appreciated that there was a tea and coffee bar. Tea isn't usually prioritized like coffee and it was refreshing. All in all a wonderful place to stay. We will definitely return and I would recommend if you are in the area."
"I recommend the Marble Mansion if you are in the Poultney/Fair Haven area. Located right on the green in the small Vermont town of Fair Haven, the mansion is welcoming and lovingly decorated. The parlor area is the perfect place for a small, quiet gathering of friends and the porch is a great "guest lookout" spot. The hosts, Greg and Sharon, even went beyond their kind hospitality by helping one of our friends with a car issue. Breakfasts are special there, with tasty egg casseroles, maple to-die-for bacon, attractively arranged fruit and generous amounts of coffee. We will be back!"
"My wife and I drove a long way from Atlanta, GA to come and see the fall foliage in Vermont. We were also celebrating a 26 year anniversary and wanted to stay in a B & B. At the time I was looking around for one, The Marble Mansion was one of a few that was available and affordable. I was very pleased with my choice. Greg and Sharon were great hosts and the breakfast was outstanding. The bed was extremely comfortable (J.R.R Tolkien room) and the room was very cozy and clean. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the bathroom is smaller than I expected. Without being too graphic, if you needed to sit on the toilet, you have to sit sideways due to part of a wall. The shower stall was nothing real special and it was small. With all that said, I would still recommend this to anyone looking for nice B & B. After all, you not there to spend your whole visit in the john, right?"
"The Marble Mansion is beautiful. The hosts are so kind and very accommodating. I have stayed twice so far enjoying both the Lewis Carroll and Rudyard Kipling rooms. The victorian decor is exquisite and the breakfast dining is superb. Have made a third booking for Halloween and looking most forward to it. If you want a pleasant , out of the ordinary place to stay. This is it."
