"The Emerson Guest House is absolutely charming. Bill & Sue are amazing hosts, incredibly accommodating and so helpful through the entire process. We rented the entire place for my sister's wedding which was held at a nearby state park, and they made us feel right at home and were extremely flexible when our plans changed. The rooms are beautiful, air conditioned, and very quiet. They also provide a delicious breakfast and have a stunning and spacious back yard. I highly recommend visiting them!!"

"Bill and Sue are amazing people with a big heart and the house reflects them perfectly. Cozy and right downtown. Vergennes is the smallest town in Vermont but it still has plenty of mom and pop restaurants and cozy bars the end of the night with. I've vacationed here two years in a row during the winter and I've enjoyed it every time."

"My wife and I spent 2 nights here and it was wonderful. I think we had the same room as the person who gave the 1 star review and I can only assume they have never stayed at a bed and breakfast. It's an old house so yes the floor boards creak, the door doesn't line up right and there aren't as many outlets as a modern house but it was very clean, comfortable and charming. There was a power strip with a surge suppressor so having a few things plugged in was not a fire hazard. The owner was incredibly friendly and kind. He asked us when we arrived if we had any dietary restrictions and he prepared food for breakfast that was delicious and met our requirements. Fresh fruit, eggs, hashbrowns, English muffins, pancakes with raspberries and blueberries, real Maple syrup, a wide selection of jams, orange juice, coffee and tea. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who understands the difference between a modern hotel and a bed and breakfast and can appreciate the charm of a beautiful old house."

"I would highly recommend staying at the Emerson Guest House if you are traveling through this part of Vermont. Bill and his wife are gracious hosts. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well decorated. Vergennes is a nice town with lots of great restaurants and very walkable to all these establishments as well as all the little shops."

"My wife and I stayed here recently for a weekend, and found it to be very comfortable, with excellent breakfasts and great restaurants for the other meals. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed comfortable and sleep supportive. It was a homelike experience, and as such, afforded wonderful "family" interaction between the guests and the host and hostess. It was a most pleasant experience and we not only WOULD come back, we PLAN to come back. Those detractors above seem to want everything "just so" and the proprietors to be at "their beck and call'. Well these people open their home to you, yes for a fee, but B&Bs traditionally are OLD houses which are continually in the process of being upgraded. Yes, there's stuff to be fixed, just like home; and yes, people have things to do, just like home; and yes, its NOT perfect, but this is Vermont, and its just like home. That is why we prefer B&Bs and that is why we love THIS place! If you want everything to perfection, go to one of the chains. You won't find it there, either, but they won't care."
