"I have had the privilege of both private 1-on-1 instruction as well as group classes through IYCVT with Rebecca Weisman (director). Rebecca brings incredible passion, creativity and depth in her approach to guiding her students, helping to foster a sense of deep understanding and alignment in body, mind and spirit."
"I think this is the first Google review I’ve ever written. I’m clicking “5 stars” because I don’t wish to diminish the business’s “rating” or reputation, however, I was disappointed with my experience at this studio. I’ll preface this by saying I’m a long-time yoga practitioner and teacher with a 500hr certification, so I understand what the instructor was trying to do in prohibiting me from practicing as I wanted during my period, but autonomy is so important in yoga spaces. Some tradition in yogic systems should/can be left aside, if the student wishes to move as she pleases through asana. This is just one example. We aren’t talking a major safety issue because of menstruation. I appreciate the high qualifications and deep respect for the practice this studio obviously embodies, but in the simplest terms, if a student wants to practice her handstands or engage her core when bleeding, let her. I don’t have a lot of time for my own student-ship these days, and was really looking forward to working my asanas this morning, not being made to be in relative inaction in my body. My apana would’ve survived it."
"I've had a very good experience here, have been coming for a bit more than a year and can attest to the high quality of the teachers (years of rigorous training and experience) and the classes (the instructor pays attention to each person and I feel safe and receive very regular and valuable feedback about how I am doing things and how they relate to my body). Feel very grateful. I now have a daily practice, go to class about once a week and learn details on the poses and slowly go deeper into the practice, the new understanding I then bring to my home practice. It works very well for me and I feel great!!"
"Iyengar Yoga Center of Vermont is my yoga home in Burlington's North End. The director and main teacher at the center, Rebecca Weisman, is a deep well of yoga knowledge. Students at the center range from absolute beginners of all ages (and all fitness levels) to seasoned teachers and teachers in training. Everyone gets taken into the postures with compassion and mindfulness. The practice is rigorous, challenging, joyful and illuminating. If you are new to Iyengar Yoga, this is a wonderful place to begin."
"I decided to give Iyengar yoga a try after developing shoulder injuries that were limiting my ability to do the things I love to do. Clearly there are lots of studios in the Burlington area, and it can be hard to know how one differs from another. I've tried "hot" yoga, and physical therapy but nothing else has been as helpful as the classes offered here at the Iyengar Center of VT. The classes have a slightly different format from others I've tried. There is plenty of opportunity to observe the correct way to do the poses followed by the chance to practice them. Rebecca takes the time to answer questions and offer suggestions for those who may need to modify the poses in some way. She is a skilled and patient teacher and I look forward to attending classes a few times a week."
